Or you could spend some money and get plastic clear valve covers to really show off. Though they may become quite opaque with oil.

Got to do a new car inspection on a Hellcat Red eye today. Sure it has power, but just didn't feel impressive. Drove it with the red fob (unlocks all 797hp). For a car that costs $88,300, it sure felt lacking...probably cause it weighs 4500lbs.

Eh, 2020 Shelby GT500 wins.
Because, Ford!
It might have less HP, but I'm fairly positive that it weighs less.

And I don't ever wanna pay 88k for a car that feels lacking in power!
More likely than not, it's not lacking, but the weight, and all the luxury bits and bobs really don't let it feel as raw as it should.

I agree....weight is not really that big a factor with that much HP, probably just a "seat of the pants " thing.

But it's not a Ford, so no wonder it sucks.

I also agree with you guys. I believe that it's an overhyped car/platform. The cars are based on an older Mercedes-Benz AMG platform. Granted yes weight isn't that much of a factor, but it just doesnt impress me at all. I'd rather spend the money on a Mustang 5.0L with a 6 speed manual over the Redeye. The last GT500 I drove was a 2005 body style and I felt like it was a great car. That one was a 6 speed (TR6060 I believe). Now this Redeye was an 8 speed ZF8HP automatic and it will not last for long, behind any rendition of the Hellcat or Demon, in that it'll grenade after a lot of hard launches or beating it to death. Drive it like a granny and use the black fob, it'll be fine.

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth 'o July everyone!

Today I woke up at 4 AM:)ack2:) and volunteered for ~5 hrs. at the local July 4th parade. Got to shake hands with the mayor!
My job was basically to watch over Row 1 in the staging area, and make sure it was all organized. Which I did. The whole event proceeded in a very nice, orderly fashion. :wai:
For those of you outside the USA(*cough cough* 'sid and Landuse), please share when your country's independence day is.

We already have/had independence.....

Our National holiday is Canada Day...July 1....
Some Americans close to us think we're celibrating their/your holiday early.....We are not...
Albeit fireworks are involved and sadly less amount of them in recent days....
Also a day for new Canadians whom being sworn in to their new citizenship ceremony...

There isn't an independence day here. Our history is different from yours. We do have lots of holidays though. Especially around March-April time. Here, if a public holiday falls on a Sunday, we get the Monday off too :D

I suppose you could maybe call our "Freedom Day-27 April" our independence day. It was the day that we had elections to end apartheid here in South Africa. I was in university at the time (1994).

Man I leave for a bit and it turns into "let's talk crap on Dodge" LOL

Underpowered Redeye...man what do you expect, a space ship? :p

But for real, the cars are too heavy. When they get the 2021 update they better lose some wait so they can really put a hurting on the Ford/Camaros :D

Hope everyone had a good July 4th!!

Chevy may release an electric Camaro soon, or it's gone for another 10 years. And yes, I was expecting boarder line rocket like acceleration. If the stupid thing did not have an active speed recorder, I probably would have gone balls to the wall...like 70mph or faster. But to just dink around with it was fun.

Side note, been looking at more parts for a future buggy build, just debating on a couple minuscule things suspension wise, as well as if an engine I want to use will work well.

I don't think a weight reduction is comin' out anytime soon on the Charger/Challenger as Dodge is releasing it's Widebody style here very soon, and I doubt they'll get lighter.
I mean hey, Dodge engineers don't really worry about weight. :D;)

The only weight reduction will be when both cars are pulled from production. I have a feeling that Chrysler will be on the verge of bankruptcy within the next 10 years again...seems to be the trend with this manufacturer. Hope to be out of this dealership before then.

I hate mini vans. They auck to work on, they have loads of problems, they look really stupid, and you cannot make them any better.

Now the only Hellcat powered rig I want to test drive when it comes out at some point is the Rebel TRX. No idea if its 4x4 or 2wd...personally, I'd rather see it as a 2wd with a Pre-Runner design (2wd, lifted 3", 35" tires, torsen rear differential). I know that truck will sell out as fast as they are released...look no further than the F150 Raptor in both iterations.
