I have a almost identical dingo thats not near in that good of shape I am putting a honda 360cc with a 6 speed trans. on. How does that sound??????

That combination sounds very good, in fact the kart was not in this condition when I bought it, I scraped it to the bone and repainted it completely so I do believe you can do the same with yours before swaping in the 360cc engine you mentioned. You won't regret it.

May 2009 Update

Hello all! I finally got my garage together and could start working on my kart. After much peer pressure from family and friends, I've decided not to completely tear into the Dingo until the snow flies....however, I did make some changes to make it more asphalt-friendly this summer. Let's call it "Phase 1/2".

Here's the "before" as a reminder:

Minus the rollcage:

And swap out the offroad tires with some smaller street rubber (sorry for the dark photo):

So whatcha think? Switching from the 22" Dia. tires to the 18" Dia. tires made a world of difference out of the hole. It winds up waaaay quicker now. The front still sits about an inch higher than the rear, but swapping the spindles side-to-side should solve that.

So what can I do to wake up the ole' Briggs without tearing it apart? I was thinking a carb upgrade...maybe a Tillotson. Any suggestions?

Looks nice, like the Manco American Express the Dingo was based off. You could add a header, and upgrade the carb and air cleaner. You really can't get much more than a nominal gain without opening it up though.

Hello all,

Just an update. Been enjoying the Dingo all summer. Took it to an old sand pit last night and had a blast. Kept up with the two ATV's I was with no problem. Sorry, no pics.

I've had the itch to start a new project...but this one is not dead. I'll get some action pics and keep you updated on its' status, but I'll be wrenchin' on a new one for the time-being. Follow along-this one should be fun. Already have had one tragedy before I even got started. Check it out.

And your kart drove fine in the sand?

I have 16" Turfsavers on my kart and it just SUNK in the sand..hah

Sorry Jetlag, I didn't get emailed with a new post notification.

Yeah, those turfsavers are perfect for where I ride the Dingo. They work great on the street, and they don't tear up the grass at all. I was flying around that sandpit, going up 40% grades with no issue whatsoever. The guys I was with were shocked by how she performed.

Off topic, but so far (knock wood) the Dingo has been dead-nuts reliable. Never breaks, always fires up on the first pull. I keep it clean and gassed, and that's it. I've had all manner of karts, minibikes, motorcycles, R/C cars, etc., and I've never had a toy that has performed so well.

Hello, new guy here.
Im looking to turn two older dingo 285s into street karts as well. I was considering converting my karts into a single wheel drive and loosing the knobby tires for slicks or something comparable. Would those turf tires do well on only concrete or should I try and find something like those slicks in your first pic? Will they fit on the original wheels? And if you wouldn't mind, could you point me in a direction to find slick tires like yours.
