If it hasnt been done already disable the governor. And replace the muffler with a much bigger one or a foot of water pipe(exhaust port is threaded)

Looks great~!

I really like that Kart. Whatever you paid for it, it must have been worth it! I love the knobby tires! Lets see some movies of that thing in action!

Thanks again for the compliments. I ran a string straight to the throttle linkage on the carb and gave 'er a tug. Didn't feel that different. I was considering yankin' the gov but if it won't make a different, I may not. A header of some sort will be used. Here are the last of the "before" pics.

I'm going to take it up north in the next week or two and play on some State land. After that, I'll start tearing into it. I'll post some progress pics.

Thanks again for all the kind words folks!

Yea, give the rollers a thick coat of bearing grease.

I forgot to tell you that I tore it back apart and greased the rollers and ramps. It eliminated an issue I had when the clutch got warm. It would engage a little earlier than normal. It wasn't that noticable, but since I lubed up the clutch, its gone.

Been enjoying the Dingo almost every night at some local schoolyards. Days are getting shorter, though. Looking forward to some wrenchin'.

When you tear it down check the welds. Manco doesnt make the best welds, I rewelded my frame because a few welds had cracked and were very minimally welded(full length of joint wast welded, both sides not welded).

Thanks Kenny. I was looking over the frame and I couldn't agree more. There are quite a few booger welds. I'm going to take it to a co-workers brothers house to have some fab work done in the next few weeks (new front spindles/brackets, lose chain and brake guards, move axle mounts foward a few inches, etc). I was also going to have him clean up/grind down some spots I saw. But in "Phase II" I'll be stripping the frame all the way down to make some more drastic changes. That'll come later, though.

Hey Fast Eddie, "You owe me MONEY", (Paul Newman) Anyhoo, nice kart! Is that a Dingo seat or aftermarket one? It looks alot more comfy then my plastic one. What does it measure from the outsides side to side? I have some room to spare for a new seat as this one doesn't fit my butt to good. I'm 6'4" and 240lbs. Thanx in advance...

Also, what kind of TC do you have. That's a long cover like mine. 11" centers on mine roughly. From the owner of Max Torque, he said murray mixed matched mine with a comet and it equals a 20 series. Just curious as to what your is...

Yeah, stock seat. Don't know what it measures, but I am a 34" waist and I slide around in the seat quite a bit. It's actually 4 pieces.

Converter is a TAV 40 series (44 I believe). Rated for 8-20 HP I think.

PS. Broke the throttle cable last night.

I tore into the throttle assy and disconnected the gubnah. Got 'er all hooked up, fired it up on jackstands, and blipped the throttle a couple of times-sounded just ignorant! So I set 'er down, put on my helmet, hopped in and hit it....snap. Broke the cable inside the sheath. Bummer. So I ordered one. It'll be here in a few days.

I'll post some pics this week of the re-worked throttle linkage sans the gov.

Thanx for the info, by the way I forgot to say NICE kart! I think I'll go to the bone yard and look for a bucket seat. I'm a little wider like a 41" waist. I'm sitting on my gel pad from the bike for now...Again, nice wheels...:sifone:

Postman delivered a little treat to my door.

Also, here's some crappy pics of the linkage w/o the gov. You can see in this pic my masterful fabrication skills w/ wire coathanger. That green self-tapping screw is my throttle stop. With the gov disconnected, the linkage would sweep 180 deg. around. It went from full throttle to idle and back to full throttle again. Screw fixed the problem.

I tell ya, it's like this linkage assy was made to be run without the governor installed. There was a hole in the linkage right where it needed to be.

I had to move the return spring a little closer to the linkage. I used this adjustable shelf bracket instead of cutting up the original. It was perfect.

You can also see that I clocked the gov arm up out of the way. Could have probably just removed it, but this way the fin doesn't flap around inside.

Disabling the gov will make a real difference if you give it room to wind out.

Man Kenny you hit the nail on the head! I took 'er down a couple of blocks at WOT and it just didn't stop climbin'! This thing is geared waaay to tall, though. I need to take better advantage of this newfound RPM range. I'll wait til the slicks make their way on, though.

Stay tuned for more.

Still here. Just driving her almost every night. Neighbors are starting to complain, though.

Wife clocked me at 39 MPH. Still climbing, too. Ran out of street.

Snow's gonna fly soon. Can't wait to tear into it this winter. I'll keep you updated.
