It was pretty funny. I felt like I was 12 years old again...trying to explain my way out of the situation!

LOL, I can imagine: "But..but..but..."

Is it me or am I becoming less mature as I get older?

I think that's why we're all here! some of the younger members here are already off to a good start *cough* Oscar, Tyler, Sayre *cough*

Hello all!

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated. My wife is taking a new job on the SE side of the state so we've moved. It's actually a good thing...we moved back to my hometown. Close to lots of family and friends. So between finding a house, moving, me getting a new job, and getting the kids in their new school/daycare, I haven't been able to touch the Dingo.

The house is all put together...all except the garage. Here's where she sits.

However, the plan is still to complete "Stage I" before the snow melts. And I have a couple of High School friends that are master fabricators that hopefully can help me with some of the cutting-grinding-welding that will have to be done. On the list is:

1. Relocate the rear axle forward to shorten the wheelbase. (Looks like 3-4 inches at least)

2. Bend the front outer axle ends up to drop the nose down, followed by cutting off the original spindle mounts and welding on my Azuza mounts.

3. Switching to a hydraulic brake.

4. Grinding off various brackets and guards.

5. Switching the jackshaft and axle sprockets to replicate the current final drive ratio (remember, I'm switching from a 22" tall tire to an 11" tall tire).

6. And of course losing the 'cage!

So right after the Holidays I am going to tear into the garage and get it set up. Then I can start on the ole Street Dingo! I'll keep you updated.

Have a Happy Holidays!

Pulling the roll cage is a 10 minute job, 2 bolts on the front, one on each bearing hanger and four on the seat back, the whole cage will come off.

Oh yeah. The cage isn't the hard part. It's the rest that'll keep me busy.

I also got an idea looking at it today. Since I slide around quite a bit in the seat, I think I'll take the headrest cushion that's mounted on the cage and mount it on the steering shaft upright. Kind of a "nut cushion" if you know what I mean.

You shouldn't have a seat belt with no roll cage. When you flip, you'll be stuck to the kart as it hits the ground upside down. Better to be thrown off.

Thanks for the ideas guys...however I have to veto the seatbelt idea. I know it's stupid on my part, but a seatbelt on a go kart just seems blasphemous.

Of course when I'm updating this thread from my hospital bed, you'll be able to say "I told you so".

Thanks.

Looks like that Honda fits good on there. Still have a bit of work to do?

Sure have, I'm really just starting to take the measurements and stuff to be able to fit the torque converter which will be a Comet 44 Magnum (the one on the photo is from a friend of mine who lend it to me so I could take the measurements before mine arrived), etc....

Howcome parts of that GX390 look brand new and some parts look dirty/used?

Je je, thanks for asking, well the engine is in fact used, I tored it down completely, changed some gaskets and seals that needed replacement, cleaned it all real nice and then painted it. The gas tank is in process right now... I'm considering buying a new one cause this one looks a like it took a "little beating".
