They bought a 4" kit with a 3" cat. Kinda small concidering our truck is 4.5" stock all the way back. When they first got the truck the downpipe was cracked bad enough everything under the hood was black and the noise would actually hurt your ears from in the cab. This is there truck from like a 20 degree C cold start. Pretty rough.

Heres the 57 I built for my wife 20 years ago, she named it: Aquanetta

We only drove it once in a while and Its been up on blocks stored in our garage for the last serveral years. I just got it out, cleaned up and running today but were probably going to try and sell it this week.

I'll be sad to see it go, but happy to have a lot more room in the garage for my kart stuff. So far I've had to (very carefully!) store and do all the work on my karts just literally inches away from the back of this car in my garage. I was wedged in between the garage door and with my kart up on its work stand, I had to keep this cars trunk open cause my kart hung right over into the trunks opening. I'd kept the whole back of this car covered in thick moving blankets but its still a wonder I didnt scratch anything up.

This car used to be a very well known street racer here in Phoenix back in the 60's. The dude that owned it back then bought the very first 425hp, 427 crate motor our chevy dealer ever sold and instaled it along with a Hemi 4-speed, big Dana rear end and a strait axle. He'd pretty much stripped it down of all non-esental items for racing and I had to locate and replace a lot of things to get it back in its near origanal condition. We (she...) decided to paint it in its original colors: Tropical Turquoise and India Ivory and went with a factory type interior kit.

I got in a few street races but never did take it out to the drag strip. It isn't all that fast but I'm pretty sure it'd run somewhere in the high 12's low 13's area. This thing was supposed to be a nice car for my wife to drive so she never did seem to like it much when I'd take it out and totally flog it.

Actually my wife's the one thats finally decided to sell her car after its just sat in the garage so long without being used. Its not like you can drive a car like this every day, we're pretty much paranoid to just park it in a tight parking lot somewhere and have everyone door-ding it. Besides that, my town has a rediculacely high rate of car thefts.

We used to take it out to cruse nights on the weekends and hang out with all the hot rodders and stuff but we've both kinda lost interest in that whole scene. Used to be that the value of classic cars like the 57 increased every year, that doesnt seem to be the case anymore either...

Another reason is I'm a tree trimmer and works been really slow lately. Over the last year I've probably only had like half the jobs/income I did over the last 15 years or so. (so we could kinda use the $$$ too)

I'm keeping my 1956 F-100 I did a complete frame off restoration/street-rod build on before building her 57. I always liked my 56 better than her 57 anyway and now I'll actualy have some room in my 2 car garage to work on getting my 56 going again. I've had a vintage (2-speed) McCullough supercharger I've been wanting to instal on my 56 for years and now I'll finally have some room to get around and work on my truck, plus some $$$ to get that done.

I've also been getting into buying/selling all kinds of stuff to supplement our income and have been needing more space in the garage to fix up, and store bigger items until sold.

The fact that I'll end up with a lot more room (and $$$) for my kart hobby will just be Icing on the cake for me. We've had a lot of fun with the 57 but it deserves to be with someone that'll get more use out of it. ;)
