Hmm, wow, :roflol:

I get that a lot .....apparently.....not EVERYTHING is bigger in Texas!

Speaking of Ford Tailgates. I have an 2005 F250. On time about 7 or 8 years ago, the thing just decided it would NOT open. No matter what I did it was stuck closed. After about an hour of Messing with it, I got it open. I opened the service panel, looked at the guts sprayed some WD on stuff and then it worked fine and has ever since. Really weird.
Pissed me off that day though cause it was winter and I was needing to go to Home Depot right after work and before dark. and the stupid tailgate wasted all my time!

Well....at least we figured one thing out....and settled the debate for the ages: a tailgate is smarter than a Californian....

Post up the Californian one ...(that starts at 4" and only goes to 5"!

EDIT: BTW: I can read the heel out of a tape measure or a caliper...the problem is trying to explain the results to a dumb Californian!

Just to be sure...and make sure people don't get the wrong idea.....this is all in fun..if Eric was in trouble and needed my help....and I could help him...I would be on the road in minutes...and....Eric doesn't have any problems with Texans....and. I don't with Californians...we're just playing....

Thanks Doug all this time I thought I was the only one who could fall into a pile of crap and come out smelling like a turd! It's good to know I'm not alone.

Well.... I decided to at least get the old tailgate functional. So....I cut the back out...(even though I was under pressure as someone was watching every move I made)!

Then took a sledge hammer and made it straight...(funny....Sammy wants to be right there when I use power tools....but he doesn't trust me with anything I can hit him with!)

So...it's pretty straight now...(roughly) ...even if it's not pretty...so should be functional...I may play with it some more...

Good job

As long as it works, who cares what it looks like; after all, it's a truck, right...

Nothing as little bondo won't fix :lolgoku:

Actually....(I did a little hammer and dolly work after the last pic)...ATM...except for a few places I didn't have access to...a layer of Bondo would be less than 1/4" anywhere...less than 1/8" in 75% of the skin and mostly less than a 1/16th...

Don't know if I want to put in the work though....rather just buy one.

Now get a shrinking disc for your grinder a rag and a bowl of cold water. Slowly work up those low areas and use the shrinking disc on the high ones. When done no bondo will be needed.

Yeah..........righhhhhhhhtttttt.....

A couple of things: this is a work truck...not a Barett Jackson contender rare vehicle.

Also...I took little care restoring this thing to straight...(it's work hardened to HAIL... Leonardo da Vinci couldn't make this look like new without Bondo!)

To put it in perspective...it's like trying to turn diamond plate into a flat ,paintable surface without Bondo!

:iagree: It is doable but, why bother? Even show cars have bondo on them...

there's nothing a BFH can't fix! lol

I think I said that 2 weeks ago. Looks like the California guy was right.... AGAIN. Wheres Pat? He said Some crap about big hammers. LOL

Chancer, there are some things that Doug does that I have learned to not comment on, due to the fact that I might get banned for winding him up. Add in the fact that he can go to piece's so hard and fast that innocent bystanders can get seriously wounded by the shrapnel, and you just wind up with a big mess......
