Received the steering joint that goes with the rack and pinion. I had to shorten the original steering shaft. Installed a heim joint to support the steering shaft. Also installed an extra small led light. It won't do a whole lot. It's just in case we get caught out after dark. Pulls 1.5 amps. And these motors put out 3 amps max. So I should be ok running a lawn mower battery.20250515_203402.jpg

Bolted the front end together for good. Only thing left up front is a tab on the passenger side spindle, Reinforcing both spindles, packing the bearings and tie rod ends.

Built a battery tray. Just need to finish building the hold down clamp.20250517_205832.jpg

Rear shocks arrived today and installed. They feel softer than the chinese ones that were on there. About 2ish inches of rear travel vs 1/2" when I bounce my weight on the rear of the luggage rack. Not as soft as I was hoping but better. So it'll have to do.
Front tie rod end heims arrived today. Need to buy some 5/8" fine thread bolts to thread into them and weld to the tie rods.

2 steps forward, 1 step back. Seems that's how these things go.
Finished the brake bracket mount. Will be primed and installed tomorrow. Altered driver side shock mount to make clearance for my driven unit. Tomorrow the buggy should be more picture worthy.

And yes half my swing arm is painted. Spray tip clogged up. Last 4 different spray cans have all clogged up on me. All different brands. I've never had that problem before.

I almost exclusively use Rustoleum, and hardly ever have issues with it, but did notice recently with the camo colors that have been clogging extremely easy. I doesn't seem to be the tips either as I have a bunch of extras and even those clog.

Krylon went to shyt around 2008 and has sucked ever since. Rusto was the only consistent shelf paint till recently.

It sure ain't the fast or easy way, but I have painted all of my karts with Rustoleum
brush on oil based enamel. Dries hard and durable. Very pleased with the outcome. A lot less expensive as well. I might have more free time than some.

Been rushing to get this done, so that I have 2 weeks to test, tune& fix before my trip.
Waiting on a reverse wound spring for the driven.
Master cylinder was full of rust so I ordered a complete new brake system.
Air cleaner needs a bracket built on top of the engine.
Engine starts and idles fine but as I remember, it's loud as crap with the glasspack and I will need to build a baffle for the exhaust

Not really sure. Once this is functional, I have several other projects waiting for me. Then either redo the front of this buggy or build another one with irs and a v twin. So it's looking like probably not lol

Like an idiot I designed everything around my 780 driven being mounted outboard. There is no reverse wound spring available. I will need to redo both jackshafts, motor mounts and exhaust mount.........
