Not All the way on, but you need a bolt to go in the end of the Crank shaft to keep it from falling off. and I think you would need a spacer to keep it from moving back and forth.
There should be 1/32 to 1/16" of available play once everything is set.

Thanks! That's a relief. I'll pick up a bolt and washer from ace hardware and a few nuts and washers for spacers...

So the parts were delayed in shipping, they will now be here this Monday. Now, in order to be driving my go kart on the same day, I need help: What size bolts do I use to: Mount the predator to the frame, put the clutch on, and if anyone happens to know, what size bolts so I use to put the roll cage on?

Thanks!

Whatever bolts will fit. Use grade 8, they are nice and strong

Its been "mere hours":toetap05:
"I fully expected spectacular video with American flag's gently blowing in the background and Bald Eagles exploding from your pipe in red white and blue here."

Ok, this thing is FUN! Had some chain issues that we sorted out. The chain is the correct length and is pretty tight now, and the engine is mounted well. Throttle cable works, everything I put together WORKS, and it's so satisfying! That predator really has some torque. The only problem with this kart is the single wheel drive, it's tearing up everything in sight. That wouldn't be a problem except for, well, landlord.

Videos and pics on the way.

By the way, I ended up discovering that there was a bearing rusted onto the drive wheel shaft. After grinding and cutting that off, I slid the drive wheel assembly on and the sprocket and clutch lined up perfectly. No need to move the clutch outwards or lengthen the shaft like I was planning to! The clutch has about a 1/4" of wiggle room now, and isn't giving me any trouble. The main thing left now is to reinforce the front wheels, which are better than HF wheels but still aren't the very best... Then mount the roll cage and panels and it's DONE.

Pics of working kart

Here's a couple pictures as it is now, and right before I put the seat back on (had to hook up throttle cable). I'm about to drive down the street to a welding shop to get my front wheels reinforced (not in the kart, just bringing my wheels).

I found the screw that holds the throttle from going all the way forward, and took the screw halfway out. Even with the governor, I think i just hit 30mph on this thing. the highest I had previously gone was 17mph on my manco... So that was... Thrilling. (I'm not going to say scary).

I found out that several parts of the roll cage are missing, so unless I make a roll cage or find a Murray roll cage, I probably can't put that on. But wow, this is a ton of fun.

It's time!

It is TIME! I'm already tired of one wheel drive. Forever. For. Ev. Er.

Instead on selling this kart since I just paid to build a whole fixed axle setup, I've decided to build a live axle onto it. I need new front wheels, so here's my plan:

1:Take the back wheels, take the drive wheel apart and make it normal bearing wheel, and use those two wheels for new front wheels.

2: buy two live axle hubs. I have some nice looking older tires that will fit on the same size hubs as my front wheels, so time to go back to GoPowerSports.

3: assemble the live axle, buy parts, etc. use sprocket and brake drum from fixed axle and mount them to the live axle. Bolt live axle to frame.

It's time!

Is there a way to disconnect the governor from the throttle or carb without removing the mechanism itself? In other word so, how can I bypass it?

Bypassing governor: BIG FAT NO!!!! Either remove it or leave it!!! (As in AS IS!) Sorry...just the way it is....when you bypass the governor, you expose the VERY weakest part of the engine to higher revs...and all those little exploded pieces floating around have been known to cause more frequent oil changes as a hole in the side of the block doesn't retain oil very well.
