Got a little work done on the rear arms today. If anybody has the hf tube notcher you would know that it does not notch 3" tubing, so i built my own jig/notcher. It did not come out perfect as getting the notch to be perfectly center but it came out good enough for me. Not a crazy update but just a little something to look at as i play the waiting game and wait on parts to arrive.

looks like you've got a little bit of crab walkin' going on there (right tire will be trying to turn slightly to the right). neat concept, although i'm not sure how strong it's gonna be. very curious to see how it turns out...

You've never tired any serious jumping with a swing arm then. IRS is a must if you plan on getting more a a foot or so of air. It helps immensely with the uneven landings.

Nothing is mounted yet and they are not done just put them there so everyone can get the idea. I am using some pretty thick walled steel so i think they should be very strong. I am going to beat the crap out of this thing when it is done so irs is a must!!!

That's why I'm going to use three link
The most simple most adjustable sort
But they are a bit heavy

Swing arms are not all that cracked up
A arms are proberbly the best in weight with travel but are also quite difficult to set up

Well i got a little more work done. I re did the trailing arms and cut down the pillow blocks to fit inside. I also mounted them up on the aluminum axle i got. It will also have a bearing in the center of the axle for more support.

This is what i plan to do for the side support just another arm coming off of it going to a heim inline with the jackshaft for adjustability

Yeah I would be a little worried about using an aluminum axle there unless it was just for mock up

thanks guys for the engine i am basically cutting the atv frame up and keeping the middle part with the engine and oil tank as everything is there all the mounts ect. and it would just be alot easier to just weld it right up to the back of the buggy frame.

I fastened the bearings to the arms today. Two bolts and a grease zerk for each bearing. Should work great now i am at a stand still till i get my metal in, should hopefully have it this week.

i think everyone is wondering: how are you going to reinforce the trailing arms to prevent them from caving in towards the center? especially if you hit tree stumps and rocks and stuff with the tires? from the looks of your most recent pics it looks like your only support is a single bearing, which will just pivot left and right like a mo-fo.

i reinforced the bejesus out of mine, trying to factor in all possible laws of physical damage, including twisting, bending, and extreme other forces that are associated with off-road riding.

i think it will want to camber in and twist the trailing arm too.

The arms are not done yet i am waiting on my steel. They will have another tube going through them like an x with a heim at the end to adjust the camber. I tried to explain in my previous pics with a small piece of pipe
