welcome back everybody. glad to see somebody finally flipped the breaker. ok so i desided im going to just go ahead with some of the upgrades i was going to wait on. im going to go with a TC instead of a CC. and i am going to get a comet forward/reverse gearbox. so here are my questions i know the TC driven mounts to the gearbox. what size sprocket should go on the output as well as what sizes on the jackshaft and axle. i want the kart to go about 10 to 15 MPH top speed and i would like to try and get all spockets as close in size a possible so i don't have huge sprocket on either the axle of the jackshaft. as i said before gearing is not my thing so i don't have any clue where they should be. i know 15 might be getting a little fast for a little guy but i really want him to start to learn that you can't just mash the pedal all the time. plus i ordered a remote kill switch so if he gets going to fast i will just shut him down. also rubber mounting the engine and gearbox? yes/no/maybe?

To get 15 mph with those 25 inch tires you need a 18:1 ratio I ram some numbers and came up with this. 10 tooth off your clutch to 36 input on the jack shaft then a 10 on the output to a 50 on the axle. With that 11hp motor and gearing this low your boy is going to have loads of torque on demand. The only thing throwing top speed off would be the torque converters overdrive. That's why I suggested a cc making it easier to figure out.

somebody wanna smack this guy for trying to talk somebody into buying a centrifugal clutch over a torque converter?

lol, just kidding.

he's actually right. with gearing that low, a CC would be easier than a TC, considering you have to fab up a jackshaft for your gear reduction anyway. however, once your kid gets older and wants to go faster - a TC would be better. but you can always mod the truck for the TC when you're ready.

Mocked up front wheel. Hopefully by the end of the day tomorrow I will have the front suspension complete.

Really nice build! Love the directional tread on the tires as well, just like the real thing.

Thanks. I'm trying hard to make it as close as possible to the real thing. Unfortunately the place I ordered them from sent me four with the tread going the same direction so I have to bring two to get switched. Hopefully ill be able to get some real work done on it this weekend.

That looks like what I did for my front axle, except it looks like you plan to 4 link it.

Bingo! I will have acouple more pics of it later. Got almost all of the front end done today. I wish I had more time to work on it but work comes first, I guess. Lol

Great work,
I can't wait to see it finished :D

Just a hint:
if you rename the pictures (or just number them) you can add more than one to a post.
