I only tried this once a long time ago with an RC car... but evidently, it can be done.

Semi rear dual wheels, single rim.. Mua ha ha ha

I think we'll have to strip these wheels... they have a new purpose.

maybe you can (maybe even should) add a spacer (say as a centerpiece between the rim halves)
I'm sure the lasercutter can make one for you, to make sure the two tyres are not fighting each other when cornering.

Update:

The others watched in horror as I took the first Kart Rod's frame from the dust and began the operation.

When she emerged, she was missing a few parts but had gained new ones.

Thank goodness for all that safety wire I have to hold things here & there to come up with this mock up. It's all just sitting there, teetering on blocks of wood, held by wire and some old fashioned good luck.

I think this will look nice when done. I'm not in love with the tanks just yet (I think it needs something different... or more up and congruent with the cab at least, on the floor pan or something...) but it's just a start.

In thinking about the rear end, this will be a job. A narrow rear end and mounts to give that "semi" look to it.

I left the original left side motor mount so we can have a "business" side of things showing with a right side empty to put rusty old truck/wrecker items.

Yup I agree Chancer.. I didn't notice the difference the first time I looked at the sketch but once I opened up the little thumb nail I totally see it.
Kelly will these tanks be functional?

Thanks for the comments. We'll see how it all lands. One way I can see the tanks working outboard, another view it works inboard. Tanks might be functional in a future rendition but for now, they're just decorations.. and they're water bottles for some sports team... BLECH! Sports... LOL! (that's right, I said it... I do not like sports... I like sports that require more than one ball.)

Honestly I'm not sure yet but to help with the cab and the appearance, outboard looks strange to me.

We'll see...

Every now & then you do find these tanks for, well, 23.00 in this case... as opposed to the mind-numbing prices I've seen lately.

Maybe so... but with these rides of mine it's the love & time you take in making something useful... out of the forgotten crap that's around.

As I was putting something outside I glanced at the back end of Unit 51, I wondered.

Self? That motor mount is just a giant flat plate. There's tons of room here to do whatever you want.

Candidate for "kart rod in a day" spotted, local ad.

Features & perks: Mid 1970's, side mount frame, 5HP Montgomery wards (briggs, condition unknown functional shroud, match to the others I have), one wheel peel, vintage chain guard, vintage tri stars (some chips)
Steering: Functional, hoop narrow, perfect for a kart rod.
Price: 150.00 obo... (we'll shoot at 100 bucks for it)
location: 80 miles away. (A nice day trip with my wife)
Other perks: possible usable drive system to sell, Steering wheel, brakes possibly there, rusty muffler to use... it's parts.

Those are cool. They are all cool and unique in their own way but... It has been done so many times. So many, It was even mentioned on this thread once before.
