Update:

Even though this has zero to do with the thread, there are parts that hint on my life too.

So here, today, is a milestone.

My kiddo is growing up. She's got her license and driving now.

With racing season back on, she's now in the Senior 4 Cycle class. The most competitive class there is with a total of 30+ known local drivers at times. This class is the one that runs the Briggs LO206... a national class.

... and today was her first race in the class.

I'm actually torn between 2 sets of emotions because on one hand, I'm losing her. On the other hand, I'm the most proud dad one might find in these parts because of it.

With some decent grades and the overall good kid she is, I put her under the care of the local (and nationally known) group known as M2 Racing. I can't teach her any more so I figured I'd give her a fighting chance. She's a great driver.

Today I found that under their guidance and tuning, she's now running with the big dogs... including pro drivers Chris Neria and Ryan Pool. These guys are some of the fastest in the biz... and she got to run with em today.

Not only did she run with em... she held her own... even leading the pack at times... after a day with the pros.

She earned massive respect today with a 4th place, front pack, period.

So as I sat at the track with literally nothing to do, I figure we'll bring a kart rod out to the track & work on that and watch my kid run down a road I'm most proud to say, is a good one.

Note: results shown was the 1st heat, qualifier only. She was on fire today. In the end, she started 4th pos for the main.

A smiling dad.

:)

Back to the show soon.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks! Here's a few others from a friend and on-track photographer, high res. They really set the stage for sure. I'll get back to the Kartrods in a day or so.

What's neat about these is that they show a race machine as they are, not as you think they are. Most think racing machines are super pretty but up close... they're not. They're battle machines.

Update:

Lunchtime playing around here with picture editing.

The Wachtmeister... I'm just not happy with something... and that's the silver color.

I'm not sure what it is but the original intent was to make the counterpart to Sarge... and silver just won't do, it doesn't make the right statement in my opinion.

I'm going the Tan route.

hmm...
i liked the silver.. I'd get if you tend towards "light grey" for military reasoning and such...
(common color on german military vehicles back then)
tan? yes even more common military wise... but I don't like it;
Well;
I don't like it on the Wachtmeister to be precise.

allow me to explain:
What I like most about the Wachtmeister as it is right now is it looks strictly 'technical';
being pure machinery, even the lettering is (looking) descriptive not decorative.

a primer grey would still convey that (to me)..
but any hint of color (and that includes tan for that matter) removes machine and adds decoration.

I know, I know, this thing is 90% decorative by design, that's not my point!
It LOOKS like it's pure machinery and that's what makes it appealing;)

Anywhoo, your choice of course..
I don't get a vote (I don't ask for one) I just wanted you to know ;)

Sid, you always get a vote. I may choose though... :)

Update:

And tan does look nicer, to me. Don't worry, we'll keep the machine going, I'm not done yet with that backside. (keep in mind... I never wash these things. A few good runs on em and it'll all blur into itself anyway)

MUA HA HA HA

I thought Gray was the appropriate color for German Military of the WWII Era.
But Primer gray on any vehicle looks unfinished.
So maybe like a Gray "color" would look good.
and paint not primer would still get that Machine look Sid was talking about.

Silver I agree looks a little flashy for a military vehicle.

Oh you already painted it? I thought that was Computer mockup.

First post was a mockup... then I got home. LOL!

That's the beauty of it all... it's just spray paint & garbage... if'n ya don't like it, 4 bucks can change all that.

I liked the primer idea too but in the end, it'll end up fading and getting beat up... and will look like that anyway.

Never know what'll happen. I have a certain love for the tan at the moment. (khaki... that is)

and sure, if it was WWII anything... I may have gone appropriate colors.

I thought Wachtmeister was a counterpart to Sarge A WW2 Jeep?

It is a counterpart, but Sarge isn't a jeep. Sure, she's got a hint of it with that front end but it really looks nothing like a jeep if you put ww2 jeep front end next to it.

Wachtmeister is just a german themed "thing" that kind of doesn't make sense, has a strange look, almost robot/evil machine type of thing. If I made just another sarge and slapped german symbols on it, it just wouldn't be the same... it'd just be a copy.

I have no idea where I'm going with it!

Wonder what it'd look like OD green, just like sarge?

Hm...

no, no, no (who'd thunk), yes'ish, noooooo
in that order ;)
"yes'ish" you might ask.. well still a tad too dark imho.

basically, I think it'd look best if the kart is close to the engine's color (dull aluminium.. yes with an i ;) that'd be light grey or silver'ish right... *cough*)

And I like orange, just not for everything (Grant's kart looks great in orange for example)

but a nice DIYGK shirt in orange (polo size M [just in case Robert drops by] :D)
I'd love
