Hey ben,

The radiator will be mounted to the frame and the pipe will be silicone/rubber with enough distance to cope with that kind of change easily, and I have found a small st/st flexi-section for the exhaust that I planned on using.

Hows your kart coming?

No progress as yet. Stripping down 2 Dakota DC3 engines with my spare time at the moment.. Got the throttle bodies off this evening (I could fit my arms down the centre of each barrel!) HUGE!

Need to order an axle and bearings/ carriers to jump on it when I have time.

I just had to Google a Dakota DC3 engine. Unreal! that's a pretty cool thing to do in your spare time, what do you do for a living?

got sorted with a bearing in the end - thanks though.

I'm a development engineer during the week, but faff about with vintage engines/ japanese cars in the evenings.

Ha! Sounds like an engineering alter ego..

Very cool job. Design Engineer myself.

Dont suppose you have any Mk1 Nissan Skylines/ Datsun 240z/260z/280z/ Mk1 Toyota Corolla? Love all those

Ooooh almost. I have a Nissan Skyline R33 GTS thats curently waiting for aftermarket wheels from Japan. Soon to have a bike carb conversion courtesy of Bogg brothers engineering (another hobby that's a drain on my funds)

Far too many projects going on at once!

I get the new engine out of the bike this week so should have some progress pictures soon!

My cousins got a S14a 200sx that was drifting at Teeside today, I had myself a 300zx for a month or so but stripped it for its engine/box.

R33 GTS are awesome cars.

Is it the rear wheel drive or awd because the r33 for one year was rwd. It's a sick car and I want one but I live in the US and you can't find them plus importing is a million dollars.

The R33 is alot easier/legal to import into the USA than the R34 - have a read of this is you're bored:

Long story short, R34's are illegal in the USA indeffinately which is ridiculous imo!

I thought all r33 are RWD unless they are a GTR? 60k? Wow, you can pick up a r33/r32 GTR for about 20k.

@ Custom shifter Money pit? Psssh.. It's never about the money.

@ Flower man I'm based in Northamptonshire.

My skyline has the HICAS system. So driving normally it only drives the rear wheels but as soon as there is a variation in speed between the rear wheels the front wheels kick in and the ECU applies power to the wheel/s with the most grip.

I think in early skylines (R32 models), the 4wd was purely electronically controlled but on later models it's part hydraulic so it's harder to convert to rwd.

Thanks fresh

Havn't really touched the kart over the last week or two. Torqued my bolt in for the front engine mount - 44Nm wet, to see if it made any difference to the free movement at the back that I mentioned. It did, but no-where near enough so that disheartened me but I have a solution in mind.

Bolt/Certified Torque Wrench

Fitted a new vice the other day. I've always managed without one (although theres at least 10 dotted around the surrounding buildings). used a big piece of steel underneath to bolt though to.

I did manage to narrow down the brake system I wanted to use. I bagged this the other day at a good price. Its to suit a 230mm disk like I wanted, has a large piston for the size of calliper, a pressure sensor for a brake light (I'll be having lights on this as per my older projects), and I'll be using the master cylinder at the front of the kart with a long flexible section in-between.

Hope to get motivated for next weekend. Got a long weekend coming up in England so I hope to make the most of it.

slowed down on it because of another project, namely a Peugeot 106 on gsxr 1000 throttle bodies that we've been building up for a mate:

Should be back on this in a couple of months or so. collecting bits and pieces here and there for it at the minute, not worthy of updating though.

Cheers for the interest!
