I do know about Heyhow.com and other sites, but i'd rather post my build here. Over there they are all about "rules" and "safety".

Haha, They dont like "backyard bangers" "They make our sport look bad"
I got banned just for being there.

You should lower your front end setup a jackshaft so you can lower the rear end too!
Heymow has tons of build pics to look at.

Yea i may end up lowering it just because the frame is so rusted out, but i'll be mainly off-road so it might just get in the way. I also have another mower i can get from a friend which may have a better tranny and frame. Its an 11hp White, 5 speed - $10. The one i got now is 7 speed, i also have a question to anyone who has any knowledge on transaxles; I'm going to gear it for about 30mph tops, I would like to keep reverse but i hear the chain can snap at higher speeds and ruin the cases, is it safe to keep the reverse chain in when im only doin about 30?

Does it have a reverse chain in the case?
I though that was only the peerless and foote gearboxes.

Hey Kaptain, I was thinking that "sweet rust pattern" kinda looks like paint over-spray. I'm just tryin to figure out what they painted on it. (meyby a miniature Roman Chariot wheel... ;)

...:censored: :mad2: :censored: :mad2:

i put the grease fitting right where the tranny bolts onto the frame, this i might just go and pick up another mower from my friend and take the 820 transaxle off of that, this one is pretty much ****ed at this point...I could also put in my peerless 700, but i was thinking about selling that on heymow for like $75.

Edit: Welding the diff was fine, only burnt myself once and it looks good, i did get a little splatter that i need to grind off but it should be fine.

You could ebay the 700, you may get a little more than that.
I put my peerless 350 on there for 60 BIN and it sold within 2 days.

Although, The guy went and tore it up 2 months later and was nice enough to send a 'nice' little message about it.

haha, my 700 is in great shape its just missing 3 case screws and needs oil/breather (i cleaned it but never finished prepping). Everything else on it is great though, the shift keys are untouched the gears are new looking, i might try and sell it, not sure yet.

IF I Were you I'd just do a go cart axle set up and use a Right angle gearbox. Will hold a lot better than any lawnmower transmission.
You could sell the 700 for at least enough for the gearbox.

I kind of like having different gears, and hate centrifugal clutches. So im not sure if the RAGB would really work out. If i did sell the 700 i'd probably put it into either some parts for my steering or just put it into my dirtbike.

Haha, Yea good point, I do too, But the mower transmissions fall apart eventually.

A RAGB with a TAV would Be awesome

that would be ridiculous, i wonder why you never see racing mowers with CVT's? can you run one vertical? Either way I'm not about to put that much into a lawn mower :ack2:

Ill run it till it falls apart, i have access to 4 or 5 more mower transmissions (two are peerless 820s, and two I'm not sure of), so I'm set for a while haha.

The only reason I can think of is because its against the rules. I think you can only have a centrifigal clutch and thats only in the outlaw classes.

I said it sat for 4 years... I got it at 7, beat the **** out of it till i was 11 then finally killed the starter gear.

anyways, today i got rid of the last sled chassis in my shed, and finished up the tranny. I think it binding in there tho, its pretty hard to turn now :(. I also took off a lot of extra stuff that was not needed, and tomorrow my flywheel key should be here so hopefully it will start. Also i was riding my go kart a lil while ago and realized why its been so slow lately, my throttle cable slipped so even when im flooring it, its still not full throttle...now im cruisin so fast i almost have to let off the gas around corners.
