According to whom, and precisely why?
... Clearly, you have never experienced COLD.
a good deaisil engine doesnt use glow plugs
Go lay down.
please stop hijacking my thread???
but it is an interesting subject
No kidding. Move up here, and then tell me about no glow plugs...i really havnt been in the cold whether cause i live in alabama
but if diesels that had glow plugs were good why do cummins last almost for ever plus people dont put power strokes or duramaxs in dodge trucks they put cummins in them
fail. you seem to know nothing about cummins if you think they just use a block heater for when they are cold. they have a grid heater on the intake. now before you start making more of an a$$ out of yourself do some research.a cummins uses a engine block heater for cold starts when its cold but they use nothing to help them start in the clinder i no the difference between direct injection and indirect and a good deaisil engine doesnt use glow plugs
i know about them i have one
i know about them i have one
Just because you own one doesnt mean jack ****. Please try to stay on topic here. No one gives a flip about your cummins right now, we are not here to argue about glow plugs, because quite frankly, it has nothing to do with the reliability of the motor. I like cummins motors a lot, but i also like the 7.3 powerstroke. just because you own it doesnt mean its the best.
IMO the best swap you could do for that jeep would be a 4.3 chevy v6. They make plenty of power for a jeep, they are reliable as hell, and to top it off if you ever felt the need for more power, a chevy 350 will essentially bolt right in place of the 4.3 as long as your tranny will hold it. The 4.3 is the same block as the 350 minus the front two cylinders.
The 4.3 vortec is capable of decent mileage, my friend has a wrangler with a 4.3 5 spd and he could pull 25mpg on the highway with it. a mid 90s 4.3 is pushing somewhere around 190hp, which is plenty to have some fun with.
Yep, my thoughts too. I have owned, maintained and driven several Vortec-powered trucks and vans over the years. Power is very good, reliability excellent. It is also a very popular Jeep swap in the offroad community. How 'bout a nice 4.3l Vortec?
