I have 5 electric Go Karts:
72Volt Yerf-Dog SpiderBox Kart, Mars 0709 Motor ($500), AllTrax AXE7234 300Amp Controller ($450) around 28HP tops out over 50mph with a 3.9 – 1 gearing and 20” tires.
4 Honda MiniMotos:
1. 36volt stock Honda MiniMoto, 500Watt 36Volt MY1020 Motor $58, 36Volt 30Amp Controller $20 around 1HP tops out at around 15mph with the stock gearing and tires.
2. 48 volts Honda MiniMoto, 1000Watt 36Volt MY1020 motor $112, 48Volt 50Amp Controller $35 around 3HP. Tops out at around 20MPH with stock gearing and tires.
3. 60Volt Honda MiniMoto, 1000Watt 48Volt MY1020 Motor $122, 60Volt 100Amp Controller $70 around 8HP (in short bursts!). Tops out at around 30MPH? (IN progress)
4. 36Volt Honda MiniMoto, Advanced DC 6.7” 24Volt Motor ($400), AllTrax DCX300 300Amp Controller ($300) around 14HP. Tops out at around 40+MPH with 3.5 – 1 gearing and 6” tires. This Kart is a BEAST and pulls wheelies off the line; I could easily gear this up to 50 or maybe even 60mph.
So in my real world testing:
For around $78 you can go around 15mph (36Volts 30Amps)
For $147 you can go around 20mph (48Volts 50Amps)
And my hope is for around $192 and the right gearing 30mph (60Volts 100Amps)
Of coarse you can also spend $700 and go 40mph or $950 and go 50mph
In most cases you can play with gearing to get a few more MPH just watch motor temps.
