Ummmm....do you guys realize how many high torque trolling motors are out there for cheap? I shipped a huge Motorguide to a member for shipping cost....

Made me think though, maybe I should cut holes in the floorboards of my truck....so I can make things more difficult.....

Might be cool in his country....just stupid in America! !!

Do you not know im in florida, clearly you do... The only time you find a cheap 30 or 50 HP [something reasonable anything smaller you best just DIY it anyway] is if its missing the prop shaft/the carb/ and still gonna run you 200 bucks. :surrender:

Nothing is cheap here! NOTHING!

Also I don't need a motor "really" ya'll say I'm over complicating things but you're assuming I need a motor. I already have a trolling motor... And Half of a Water-Jet from the 70's [just need to hook up a suitable motor]

but that's not the point... If I could find a 50HP for cheap. sub 100. that's runable with minor work.. I would be all over it. but it just isn't a place for it here.

also as far as gasoline. I have 4x 10 gallon plastic gas jugs that already have taps in the bottom and a fuel pump to hook up to a 12 volt source.. [long story short I used them to create a long range pickup truck...]

I'm saying. some "people" where just saying "buy a motor it will be easier" if I wanted to buy a motor, I'd buy a 50hp motor or a 30hp. but those motors aren't "cheap" AND relevantly available where I live without needing major work and still being expensive to buy..

My point of the youtube video is it looked like a fun project to attempt to do with a few HP gasoline motor. Then I get flamed because "over complicating things" lmao

Welcome to the Internet, hard to convey meaning, and hard to understand someone's intention sometimes without extreme detail. Lol

I wanted to do something like that, but any kind of motor here means the boat needs to be registered. Even tiny electric trolling motors on a kayak apparently.

Too bad nobody knows where that is.

Earth, of course! :D

The code here isn't great, seems to cover more than it should. Only loopholes I see are if you have a steam powered boat over 65 feet or if the "propulsion machinery" is not "equipped" to the boat then it doesn't need to be registered. I'm toying with a few ideas on that second one.

Paddleboats would also require registration by the wording of the law but don't. So that forms a bit of a grey area too.

Have you ever had a day where you try to explain to someone what they're doing wrong on a project, only to have them insist on using everything that they're doing wrong as their defense? Especially when they seem to fail to grasp the concept of if you do the same thing over and over expecting different results, you might have an issue on your end???

There's a member on a different thread who is basically giving all of us living proof of that.... :mad2::mad2::mad2:

I built a kart to set the new land/air speed record. It had a small nuclear reactor and an alternating electromagnetic drive system....

I posted up pics here just before the maiden test drive....

Unfortunately, it worked so well that it went so fast it hit time warp....

Look for the pictures 10 years from now.....:lolgoku:

BTW: What was that Idiot Quotient again?

Good to see you, fowler

Unfortunately, there's no cure for stupidity, all we can do is try to educate &/or warn those who need it, after that, it's on them...

You can lead a horse to water...

My previous comment was referring to my personal life; has anyone here ever had a conversation with someone who suffers with dementia? My mother is not quite there yet but, her memory is going; the biggest problem with that is she's also stubborn; a few months ago, I made the comment "just because you don't remember doesn't mean I'm wrong!" But, of course, she doesn't remeber that... :censored::mad2::mad2: :horse:

Until you added the family angle, I thought you were describing the plant superintendent where I work.....
