I slept all day. from 10 AM to 10 PM. very productive day I will say.

but in all seriousness, dunno why I'm so tired lately... more then normal. Probably going back to sleep in another two hours, yes I still feel tired... but I woke up for a second and was super hungry. lol

Well today sucked. I own a rental house 90 miles from my home. The tenants moved out last week. I use a managment company to take care of things due to the distance. Today the managment lady sent me an email: "I went by the house and there is wet spot on the floor in the living room by the garage wall, also the drywall is wet and the baseboard, I noticed there is a spigot in the garage on the opposite side, it must have been leaking" she continued... "the tenants had the utilities turned off in their name, the water company wants a deposit, can you have the water turned on in your name, so I can get a house cleaner in? oh and do you want me to call a plumber?"
Ahhh HELLO....Yes Call a plumber immediately before you turn that water back on. This is not just a spigot in the garage, it is the main water line into the house that happens to have a spigot on it. If it soaked through the drywall and baseboard and double bottom plate and wet the carpet it is a decent sized leak, possible mold. Aarrgh!! And she asked? should I call a plumber??? I pay these people 8% ($112) every month usually all they have to do is turn over a check. and the one time a year they need to do something, they are this clueless!
Thanks for hearing me.

My last 2 days have been rather crappy. I've been laid up in bed sicker than a dog, throat swollen, whole body hurts, vomiting, hot, then cold. Ya lots of fun. I wouldn't mind the time off if I didn't have so much to do.

So yup, my life as of right now is meds, water, and lots of sleep.

Well....got bad news at 8:15 this morning from Toyota....timing chain needed to be replaced....$2400.....so I said I would just come get it....

I called my mom for a ride....she asked when and I said 9:30...

10:00 rolled around...no mom...at 10:30 I called her cell....she answered, and I said "Are you Okay? " (I'm actually worried) ...She said yes....who do you think you are calling? ....I called her by her full proper name..she said "Who is this?" I said: "The son you were supposed to pick up at 9:30 and take to Toyota....(Turns out she thought I was gonna call when I was ready.....

So I get my truck ....limp it home and start trying to hunt down a core motor to rebuild.....(it's about as easy to swap a motor than replace that chain).....I locate one 30 miles away....long story short I spend 2 hours waiting for them to give me a price....and they finally say they can't find the motor
....

So ....I go out adjust the distributor....and it's running great now.....

I don't know whether to be mad, cry, or laugh.....:surrender:

Is this a 4 pot Tacoma or a V8 Tundra?!?!? What world do you live in where it's cheaper to to find another engine than replacing a simple timing chain?!?!? Are Japanese engineered vehicles that intentionality over engineered that you can't actually fix them??? You have to find a core of questionable value instead????????

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!

22re....long blocks available online for under $1500 delivered....complete used motors from $700-$900....

$2400 is dealership price.....BUT ...you have to drop the steering linkage, drop the pan, pull the head...(which means intake and exhaust manifolds, pull all the hoses belts and accessories off the front of the engine, pull the radiator, harmonic balancer, and oil pump....(and lord knows what else I've forgotten )....

If the engine was in perfect condition....I might consider it....

Hoping to find a good core for under$300, put about $400-$500 in it...drop it in with a new clutch and new exhaust, some new belts and hoses....and be good for another 300,000 miles....

So, now it's a VVTi engine... only, it doesn't adjust how you want it to :lolgoku:

:iagree: Timing chains can be a pita & expensive to have someone else do it...

A few months ago, it cost me $200 to have a $20 rocker cover gasket replaced, simply because I couldn't be bothered doing it myself (it involves removing the plenum chamber)... I know what to do next time...

Well....I found a can.....bad news is it cost $75.....(mounted and balanced) ....:lolgoku:

Actually....it worked out pretty well....the tire spit out a plug....and shredded on the exit ramp off the freeway to my house...so I just drove the last 1/2 mile or so really slow....beats changing a tire with the factory crap in 103°f temperature.....

O thats why they wont patch or plug a sidewall at the tire shop. But Why did a tiny Toyota truck tire cost 75 bucks. Nevermind I am sure thats what they go for or there is noway You would have paid for it. LOL

Actually....this was a cheap tire....(but the only one they had in that size) .....think it was about $55.....the rest was replacing the valve stem....(the old one was aggravatingly short)..., mounting , balancing, and old tire disposal fee.....

^ yikes.

I've been wondering as I'm slowly collecting parts for my 6.5hp tablesaw build. you think it would matter or not having a flywheel? What I planned on was 2 belts, and a jackshaft to get the RPM around the 3k range at the blade.

But from my understanding a flywheel helps maintain the torque and not stress the engine so much, is this true?

Oh and the reason why I'm going for a gasoline build, my house can't support the load from the motors my guess is the reason why the one that came on it died..... my tablesaw is already outside under a covered area. to update the electrical system would be too expensive compared to like 300 dollars in parts including the engine? a new electric motor runs like a little over 240 dollars, plus shipping is like another 60. and i'd still only have a 1 HP 1.5 HP motor on my dodgy 80s built electrical.

so what you guys think, think a flywheel is really needed?

no noo, a big external flywheel. like you see on older hit and miss engines...? Not the one on the engine. one that would connect to the jackshaft.

I know I see youtube videos in the near future of a gas powered table saw grabbing boards and shooting them out as projectiles at some pretty impressive speeds lol.
