45 this year? That works out to around 1 a week, which isn't many, in the grand scheme of things...

I, too, am currently unemployed & the government forces those unemployed took for work; if you don't, they cut of your benefits; I'm currently on restricted activities & I need to look for two jobs a week; for those on regular activities, it's around 8...

When it's the same job posted every bleeding day for something I'm not qualified for, kind of hard to apply to any job. Some days I've seen the same position posted about a dozen times and that was all there was for that city.

I might be low balling myself on how many I've applied too since a lot have expired and we're automatically deleted. Out of all those jobs though, I've had maybe 4 interviews, so maybe 1 in 10 or so.

They have a similar law here for unemployment benefits, however since I quit my last job, with 2 weeks notice and not fired or laid off, I cannot claim unemployment. Fortunately, I do have insurance under my dad until I'm 26, unless I have a job with full benefits or I get my own...which ones offered currently are absolute garbage.

The job market everywhere is garbage and its not getting better fast enough for anyone. The company I applied too is an all year landscape that also does snow removal, so that's always a plus side. It's only to tie me over until I can get my special class low pressure boilers license. Since my dad holds the highest class license the state offers, hr can help me with his 30 years of experience.

Yep, slim pickings. As much as I enjoy welding, I hated it in production settings, which is why I do it as a hobby now. Saves me my sanity and keeps my stress to a minimum. I might be making excuses for all I know.

Just glad that if I get this landscaping job, I'll be making more there than I did as a welder. Feeling like trade school for welding was a waste of money, when the jobs I held, I could have learned it all on the job. But I did learn a lot more stuff in college than what the jobs would have, so that's the upside.

Well got the job. Most laid back, informal interview ever, but it went very well.

:surrender: :surrender: If you lived in the Grand Rapids Michigan area, you would had your choice of welding job's: we have more skilled trades opening's than applicants.......

In a couple years I'm planning on moving with my girlfriend to Souix Falls, SD or possibly Brandon, SD. There's a wind turbine manufacturer out there. Only reason I haven't gone after it is because, I'm 4 hours one way, away from it and I've been out of work for a long time. So id like to have a job for the next year or two before I make that decision.

The job I'm getting now, I'll be paid just as much as the welding position in South Dakota. But for the most part, college for welding was for me just to learn the skill more, with the possibility of a career in it. I'll look into it on a later date, but for now, I'm glad I'm going to be working again.

Hey if your goint to SD in the future there is big money to be made in the Gas and oil industry For Welders and such. In Demand Cause who wants to live in that Frozen Hel Hole!
But since you are already in Minnesocold, Should be a good match.

But it all depends on the news of Nov 9th!

The upper Midwest isn't that bad. Though they are saying it'll be a very snowy winter this year. Just need more snow gear, since my current is blaze orange for deer hunting.

Engery industries are very bumpy in that the demand for them at times is questionable and I rather not be laid off for months on end...I'd go insane...not that I haven't already 😄.

I'll be learning a lot more about lawn care which is a benefit for me, plus can relearn driving a skidsteer, since its been about 18 years for me lol.

But I do hope more people go into the trades like welding, HVAC, electricians, plumbing, linemen (power lines), etc...the back bone of the world.

I would not know being in Sunny So Cal.
But Isn't Lawn Care seasonal. I mean how do you cut grass covered in Snow?

Energy industry is bumpy. The simple answer is Yes or No. We will find out next Tuesday.

Lawn care would be, whenever the snow melts...which could be February, March, April, or even May until about this time of the year. I'll be helping installing irrigation (auto yard or sidewalk sprinklers), patios, fountains, prune trees, remove snow, maintain equipment...change oil in the trucks, tractors, front loader and skidsteer, sharpen blades on mowers.

Well first day on the job and it went well. Started at 8 this morning and got off just about 4. Tomorrow hopefully learning to use their John Deere zero turn mowers. All day today I was lugging around a backpack leaf blower, and that was fine, until my neck and legs started hurting badly. Took 3 325mg Tylenol and it seems to reside mist of the pain.

Need to find a better adjustment for them so it doesn't hurt so much. Ended up going through 2 1.5l of water...that's more than I normally go through in a day. I'm thinking some stretching should help out to prevent more pain. It's hard work, but the pay is well worth it.

Drink more water. I do not even do labor, and I drink 6 or 8 1/2 liters a day and that is just during work hours. 3 or 4 more at home.

I'm usually a bottle short. I asked my doctor at my physical and he said it's an ounce of water for every pound you weigh.

Guess he got in a fight with the wrong cat...and the sucker got a lucky shot in on him. I can't locate him right now, but I think he's feeling better.

I just barely caught that before that pus ran in his eye. He is very uncooperative when I even try to wipe that stuff off, and he is too big to wrestle one handed.
