Been thinking about getting a car after doing a 250ish miles on my motorcycle 2 days ago.

MY WHOLE BODY HURTS. neck, shoulders, the insides of my armpits [from my jacket rubbing in that area] the backs of my thighs. the inside of my hands..

What are you riding? I can't stand being on 600s without raised bars and dropped rearsets for more than a couple hours, but standards I'm good on for 500+ mile days so long as I take a couple minute break every few hours. Harley/cruiser stuff... that I don't touch so I can't comment on, but I can't imagine sitting straight up ever being comfortable against the wind or over bumps.

well that trip was on my GS500, Its pretty heavy in mods and vibration damping.. I've been neglecting to install risers and make up a windshield... that would help I think some more. Also Re-do my seat. My current patterned stitches rub my butt too much and cause it to be sore.

its also my jacket, it puts my body into a weird position. like I can't lift my arms above my head or out to the side because the jacket doesn't stretch....

its much more comfortable riding without it. but I never do. I just gotta save a few dollars to buy a replacement.

J_Walker, if you don't make long runs over 75ish on a regular basis I'd recommend going up 2 teeth on the front sprocket, that made a lot of difference on the highway vibes from my E model, plus you'll gain a slight boost in MPG. You just need to watch your chain tension closer since that'll bring it closer to the center stand.

Post '89 you can just drop new bars on. Not sure if they make anything for the '89s with clipons. Knight Design makes some nice (albeit a bit pricey) lowered pegs.

Outside of that, yeah, the jacket is going to be a major factor in comfort, especially if you're on an E model. Some of the hardcore older guys recommend wearing padded bicycle shorts under the pants for long trips.

Also, just FYI, a lot of people run the exhaust clearances .08-.13 instead of at spec -- makes the valve lash hold for much, much longer.

My chain is factory. I often can do 100 mile days fine. I just stretched my 250 the other day out of boredom. lol

its actually kinda hard to find the right sized bars that come back far enough.. I searched before I got bars for this bike, just went with the default height, again might be something I have made up later on.. but I rarely do 250 mile days.

Also underwear and pants IS THE problem, its the seams in them, along with the seat. LOL It would be better bare bottom... might be a little hot after sitting in the sun for awhile... LOL

O lord, please for the sake of humanity don't ride bare bottom, lmao.

Wait! What? I thought everyone rode bare bottom. (Might explain why my kart has that peculiar brown streak in the seat I haven't seen in others).

In other news....a black teenager was shot to death after breaking into a new car dealership by a rookie cop here in Arlington...(not far away....actually Dallas Cowboys new stadium is there).....

So....I see an interview with the father and they show all the trophies and accolades this young man had.

Then ....his father says: " I don't want this to be a black or white thing , it could have happened to anyone...black or white.

I was impressed for 2 reasons:

#1: He wasn't playing the race card or trying to prosecute the police without facts.

#2: He didn't sound black....and you could just tell he had tried to raise this boy right...and obviously for the most part had succeeded.

And for now....is content to let tje investigation uncover all the facts, and not urging rioting in the streets....

Jesse Jackson and a few other black bigots could do well to take a lesson from this man.

Well I got bored today so I decided to make a electromagnet with some solid core copper wire we had left over after our hot tub install. Pretty strong too.

This one didn't pass quality......

One of the guy's on second shift missed a tiny little step. He didn't mirror the hub program from the right hand to the left to match the prop. It didn't help that he was running two other machines at the time.

The please weld was added by a member of the peanut gallery.....

So over how expensive go kart parts are if they're labeled for "Racing". I just spent $10 on a set of fuel mixture screws for my world formula. What's even worse though is shipping was $7. They're mixture screws, and springs, can't they simply put it in an envelope with a stamp and save everyone money?

I don't know if i'm more mad about the shipping or the fact that I just spent $10 on a pair of mixture screws with springs, that probably cost pennies to produce.(I bought an extra long and a standard size because I didn't know which to use being at alt in all )

Got an epoxy coat on the old WW1 shotgun I've been cleaning up... Not looking too bad now! Hopefully it holds up well.

Definitely a heck of a lot better than the nonfunctional rusty hunk of metal I dug out the back of a gun shop a couple months ago. Can't decide if I want to redo the wood or not. Takedown case is in progress though

Today kinda sucked. I got the qtr midget going and took it on its maiden voyage , to crash it and have a gash taken out of my foot. I could post pics(i know how much everyone loves pics here) but I think they'd be a bit gory. Anyways there's a pic with the dressing on. 4 stitches. Funny thing is I didn't even know I did it till I looked down and saw blood. Lol

But the real question is... did the kart survive?
