They are running a huge ad campaign here for the new one
Because its Australian designed

But maybe they are not selling them it the US

Its been discontinued in north America. Presumably because every one wants big trucks or small cars, nothing in between. Can you see it doing well in oz? You guys all seem to swear by toyotas.

Probably. The trucks aren't really getting bigger, just taller.

Well Toyota does make a good truck. I don't like the Tundras, but the Tacomas are great little trucks. If I ever bought a brand new truck, it'd probably be the Tacoma TRD T/X Baja.

From what little I drove the one I worked on at work, they drive pretty well and are comfortable. Felt a little tight for my taste, but that would just take some getting used to.

What about a VW amarok? They are 4 cylinder, 2L, twin turbo, boosting about 30PSI. Must have some good internals.

U see a rare amount used by mechanics as mobile service vehicles because a 4x4 truck is costly

I was missing a seat adjustment winder, so today i started making some wooden ones.

edit: That car looks like a jetta. May be wrong though.
Why is the steering wheel worth so much? Dunno! Its an aftermarket grant wooden one.

Cheers. I plan on getting it to a similar colour to the steering wheel, so i may not stain it at all. After varnish or lacquer it will probably be dark enough.

Please excuse the throttle blip to 7k, the return spring was playing up. It has been replaced now.

Sounds good! Are your gauges in front of the gear shifter instead of by the steering wheel?

Yeh, the centre console is from a gti.
I was considering putting the by the dash, and a radio where the gauges are, but that would involve hacking up the centre console.

Planning on getting some 6x4 speakers for the parcel shelf mount, and some 4 or 5" ones to mount in the centre console (I would have to modify it).
I then may get an amp and sub and put them under the seats.
This car is so small, I am trying to find room for stuff! The boot is way too small for a sub, cos there would be no room left!

I installed a donor passanger seat today, and stripped down the other seats. The old passanger seat had the best foam, except there was a hard lump. Cut a hole in it and patched it with some foam from the drivers seat. Going to cover the repair with some thin foam or felt so you dont see it.

Then going to use the best parts of the seat fabric to make one good seat from the two fabric covers.

Cleaned the carpet and new passanger seat/ rear seat with an aqua vac today. Seemed to work fairly well. Just need to fix and reinstall seats, fill a few holes in the dash, get and make a few goodies and put in a decent sound system. Then I can start tidying under the hood, and touching up the body work.

I'm always amazed at how different people really think. I never would have even given a moment of thought to speakers, would have put that money towards making more power (chip, cam, ect). Not saying its a bad thing your going for new speakers, just thinking its interesting where peoples thoughts go to first. I know my brother would be thinking about how to make it look fast before making it fast.

I think it's a young guy thing. When I got my first job and a $200 van the first thing I did was wasted my pay for like a half a year on a booming stereo system. Lol now I wouldn't take the stuff for free now. Just steals room. Stock radios give me all I need.

I'm only just 18 so its not all young guys, personally I prefer the purr of a turbo.

it depends on the laws

u americans have in some areas got it dam easy
some areas it seems u can licence a wicker basket pwoered by cold fusion

most places it is very hard to modify cars out of OEM specs
like the tyre size must stay with in 2 in
u cant just upgrade an engine
to modify a car u must get an engineers certificate to say is still safe

the whole point of this car is it is cheap to run and cheap to insure
if an 18 yr old cant be trusted with more than 2lt then what would they say about a performance vehical

if i could id have done an engine swap and lifted my landcruiser but at $1500 an engineers certificate is dam expensive)

IMHO, I would just get some decent 6x9s for the rear and some 5-6s in the front. There is no need for a sub in a car that small. I was going to get a sub for my Silvia. I first installed an amp and a decent head deck. If I crank the bass, it is unbelievable, it honestly seems like there is a sub in the boot.

If you do just make sure the car doesn't have rattles. I die a little, when you see idiots with the sub going and it sounds like the is about to vibrate apart.
