Grandparents told my older sister that, she didn't believe it. She found out later that living well is the best revenge.
Yup, they will kick my butt one day. Inga, my daughter is ornery, freaking head butts me when wrestling. Both are in the 99 percentile for height and weight.

Wow, I'm so very confused now. Had thought the green vessel was a 4' tall water heater shell or similar, would have had long-lasting thick walls. Now can see it's only a third of the volume of a 20# propane cylinder. So, what kind of vessel was it, will it be a smoker, or maybe a firebox for a smoker, and what will the 20#er be when done?
If a pic of a sketch can be shown, showing plan for how it will all be when done, it would recap my confused curiosity.
EDIT: Can it be assumed that the 6 legs/arms/whatevers are meant to be stay-cool-to-touch handles for adjusting the draft door? Here's a link to the most effective stay-cool-to-touch material I've ever found, the handle part of one of these..................

Almost 800lbs without the kart and fuel if your dad and you were in it together.
Im thinking you would just lug the piss out of it and burn up clutches with a 420

Yea, it will be a 670cc v-twin. Dad probably will only ride in here a few times. Ill have to do a beefy clutch. If its under powered ill go loko next year and turbo it, but ill just play with the governor till I get a feel for it.

More time on the smoker:

Red is venting, blue is tempered glass.

Whelp, turns out I want smoked pork more than a buggy right now. Working on the cooking grate. The big house remodel is influencing that. Finding out how circlular cuts complicate things.

Got lucky. Winch was on sale for $111 from the return bin. I have already used it to lift a window into the house. I got lucky on the spacing, fits like a glove in the lower portion of the bumper.

From a purely practical perspective, knowing how to weld has saved my butt 3 times now with carpentry/framing. I can make brackets that dont exist, for a few bucks, to support weight in ways that open up my framing options. My wife is starting to understand that building a buggy and smoker helps her have fancy new things, haha

Well, the 6 wheel goods have been speaking in my ear. Thinking of going back to the original 6 wheel idea. Picked up a killer bench seat for the rear for $20. Came out of a CJ-7 Jeep.

You have to build it how you want it! Now would be the time to do it. Cute kid by the way, make sure she is happy too!

1st is close to what I would do with the 6 wheel setup (just swap the seat for the front facing bench seat).

2nd is what I will do if I go standard 4 wheel setup (Also swap the bucket seat for the bench seat), differentce would be rear facing.

Pro of the 6 wheel is obvious, 4 wheel is way shorter/simpler. I want to emphasise the shorter too, I think that may be important on backwoods trails with fallen trees/tight turns. But, I know I will have to cross some shallow rivers with slick rocks, so the 4 wheel would be better in that aspect. Also, I can haul my kids longer and safer with the cage setup on the 6 wheel. Also, 6 wheel would be way better in sand/snow.

Pro of the 4 wheel is less time, less money, better rear suspension, lower height, easier to store, better in small areas, less tire wear from proper Ackerman steering (one of the axles on the 6 wheel setup would drag a little). Way better turning radius as well. More space in the garage because its smaller footprint. Less parts to fail/get messed up.

Which do you think I should do? Im picking up the welding again. Fixed a messed up measurement on the roof yesterday.

Terence

My big concern with the 6x6 is being able to turn. If you had rear differentials it would be ok. But with straight axles it may want to just push and go straight. John Deere and other companies who built 6x6 vehicles have found this out the hard way. They don’t want to turn. Even a regular kart with a solid rear axle has some problems with turning. Another thing, moving the passenger up so high will be a very violent ride for them. Like trying to ride the top of a flag pole in a hurricane. I encourage you to rethink. Just something to think about.
