I don't think u will be doing 100
Or u may but for a short time

The steering system alone is a huge project

As long as the boggies (the bit the "guides" are on) are sprung then u should be ok
For such a low speed machine u could just about make then solid
Then make a track tensioner

Thickness varies with whatever scrap metal i had around but its all pretty thin not armor plate or anything lol. The seat is done and I painted Goliath on the back. Also Iv got one of the tracks on and ready for another test drive. I think it should be better now fiddleing with the wheel alignment and the guides on the tracks I think solved the problem. The track guides were a little too vertical and some were staggered a little so they would catch on the wheels. So i bent them a little and that should help them not get bound up. The next few days ill be working on the other side then do another test run.

Took it out for a short run today. One of the old crappy belts i used on the steering broke so i didnt get far. And on the other side i noticed the brake pulley is getting stripped off from its aluminum hub. So that 7" pulley i found in my shed was crap. gonna have to take it apart again to change that. The tracks seemed to work better but i was going slow so who knows. I got far enough to take some pics anyway  and its much nicer to drive with a seat

I'm sorry, but the teething problems you're fighting are the reason I was so stunned that you were putting so much effort into the visual eye Candy without knowing if you had an actually functional drive train.

Been there, done that. Cerimonialy burned the T shirt a couple of decades ago.

Yup major issue one I'm not gonna have when I do my drivetrain. Big heavy and fast mind you still don't know if tracks will withstand the power I'm gonna use. If worse comes to worse I'll make new tracks that have the structural strength.

I fully expected teething problems. Iv been there done that too. It comes with using parts you find in the junk yard and dumpsters. Keep in mind I have less than one hunder dollars into this thing. If it didnt look nice i wouldnt bother keeping at it to make it work. You can build your tank however you want. I have no regrets

this tank is PHENOMENAL!

it's not perfectly working after the first try...?
who gives a flying ..uhm.. shirt.. yes I'm sure it was shirt. :D (whoo, that was close)

Again, I'm no fan of warmachinery.. but that's the coolest tracked vehicle I've seen in a long time (and that includes that canadian tracked offroad segway-thing, which in itself is pretty awesome ;))
this is cooler.. and it's DIY.. and less than 1/70th of the pricetag (not counting the hours) and that tripples the Awesomeness :D

I could start to mock about the writing being freehand and irregular,
but that's BS..

call it's beta test.. debugging... whatever.
it's just not done technically, but it will be in the near future :D

 again and again... and again
(with puddles of :drool5: here and there ;))

And just how many rockets did N.A.S.A. blow up before we got to the moon?????

It looks awesome and there are always going to be a few bugs and room for improvement. ......

Right lol thanks guys. I expect it to be an ongoing progect with improvements made as needed. Part of the reason I didnt test anything is there was no time. Had to be done and driving by 2 days from now for the oldminibikes.com build off. I had 5 months to do it so I did it. The only things i really test before completion are bicycles and thats only if their highly modified and easy to put together. These sorts of things you have to work as fast and hard as possible or itll never get done. It does need a machine gun on top though dont you think? Guess i should get the tank working first. Heres a few bikes im working on now. The chain bike I finnished today. The cool part about it is you pedal backwards for low gear and forwards for high gear. Its called Retro Direct drive. The bike with car tires is going really well. Its gonna be a fun bike. I laced up the wheels using old vw beetle wheels and tires with the centers cut out

I apologize; I didn't mean to come across as derogatory. It's just that your previous work didn't seem to trip up over these type of headaches. And having cut my professional training teeth working under teachers that would come back from an engineering lunch with a soggy bar napkin, shaking their heads and saying "....Here's what they claim they want; first we gotta make it work. We'll figure out how to make it look good after that....."

That's why I was so stunned that you went for broke before even starting the engine.....

OH MY...... would love pics of the body creation that body work is simply amazing. More then I could even hope to do. As for the bike I've tried doing that but gave up too many times welding chain is just too tiresome. CONGRATS excellent job.

hey guys the tank has been working great. I can drive it all around without anything breaking. now i can work on finishing up the electrics and the console with the gauges and switches. And im gathering parts to make a custom trailer for it to tow it behind my jeep to car shows and stuff. heres a video i made last week. i tightened up the loose track since then. the brake problem seems to be solved. I broke a few belts before I picked one that wasnt so old and dried out.

Looks good, seems to drive well. Hopefully the teething problems were just that. Now, as far as towing it behind you're Jeep? In parade duty shouldn't be a mechanical problem; where the problems may start is if they use the Jeep as the scale reference, and site you for the tank & trailer as an oversize/ overweight load.....
