Ok the trailer is all done now. I also wired up the Jeep for it. I plan on making a video but it wont be till some snow melts. It came out really good

looks great,

but allow me to ask.. seeing it's a single axle, and knowing that you Goliath is not exactly a lightweight;

how does that work out?

I mean, the trailer is likely rocking like a seesaw when you load the tank,
and it's likely not exactly easy on your hitch either... *shrugs*

Thanks Sid. I know its common in germany to have dual axle trailers but thats very uncommon here to have dual axles on small trailers. The trailer weighs 300 and the tank is 600. So 900lbs is perfect since the springs are rated for 1000. and i set the axle a few inches back from centerline so the tongue weight is good. The whole trailer tilts on the axle for loading so i wont be stressing the hitch at all when doing that.

Oh we have single axle trailers as well.. nearly no small trailer has a dual axle..
My concern is exactly said tilting on the axle...
No, that might be the wrong word again..

I'm perfectly sure, that you KNOW what you're doing,

it just looks odd to me considering...
the tow bar will be high up when the tank is just at the back of the trailer..
and in my mind it'll lower rather violently when you move the COG past the axle because of the weight *shrugs*

But I'll wait for the video to make my final call :D

Na its called a break back trailer

See the front of the box where the hitch extends from

Thats a pin

So u remove that pin and it drops back to allow u to drive the tank on

This is while the hitch is on the car
The hitch is attached to nearly the centre of the box and it pivots there

Its a pretty common type of trailer here for car trailers
Also for tradies so they can tip.out the sand or what even theyre carting

Yes it does come down quickly when u drive over centre
But if u do it right it just sorta falls over rather than slaming down

The point it sits on is oftern rubber so it adds a little shock absorbtion
The big ones even have a leave spring to.land on

Cool trailer

All i say is make sure its secured to the car before u drive the tank.on
Seen the result of not doing this
Big dent in boot lid as the hitch rises
Woops

yeah im not real worried about it slamming down. Mostly because the trailer is so low it doesnt have to tilt that much before it hits the ground. Its only like a foot between tilted and latched. Also I have gas charged shocks on it to hold it up while im loading it. They arnt real strong but it should soften the blow a little. and im not going to drive up it at full speed lol

Heres a little video of me screwing around. I broke a few teeth in the tranny because ice built up in one of the tracks and stopped it dead. easy fix it only took like 10 minutes to get it apart. I just have to find some gears probrobly at the junk yard but its too cold now. Its a Peerless 806A 1st and 3rd gear. Hopefully I can get a whole box then ill have some extra parts on hand.
