Hey:) I just got a go kart and the engine doesnt idle at all. As soon as u start it it goes off and goes wayy to fast for how i would like it. Also i don't even have to press the gas for it to go. The brakes also squeak and dnt really stop the go kart much. I have a tecumseh power sport engine 6.0. Question is how to get it to idle, and how to get it to go slower. Thanks for your help:)

There's two screws on the carb one (i am not sure on the powersoprt but the idle is the one by the throttle on the carb and the mixture is the one that is kinda in the side of the carb possibly by the gas input is the mixture screw that you unscrew it to let more gas in(if you need to). And the other is the idle you can adjust it if you want it to idle slower/faster. Hope this helped!

This is the engine i have

Im not sure what this is but that thing moves bck but springs bck

That thing on the top is what i think what ur talking about bc it moves the gas line

This is where the line is for the pedal but the pedal on the go kart is really lose like no tention on it

This is how the gas pedal line is connected.

Hope these pictures help.

that golden screw net to the primer is the idle screw! (3rd pic)

but first
make sure your butterfly is working nicely and not sticky or something.
(the lever plate above the idle screw)
open and close it by hand over and over again with a non running engine.
if it feels sticky, just use a tablespoon of gasoline as a solvent first.

if it's not sticky, or you cannot unstick it that way you need to do a proper carb clean.

yupp leave it be at first, it's most likely in the correct position (well it was at least ;))
so if you cannot free the butterfly up or that's not the issue,
(but I'm pretty confident that your butterfly is stuck)
you need to clean the carb anyways ;)

Pic 2: That's the governor arm

Pic 3: See that screw right in the middle, just to the left of the primer bulb? Turn that almost all the way out...

Disconnect the throttle cable from the engine, sort the engine, then reconnect the cable...

Also, either raise the rear wheels off the ground or remove the chain while working on the engine...

Thanks i lossned it almost all the way. I got in a crash yesterday so hopefully bending the steering bar that turnes the wheels will be easy.
