front fork setup

in this fork setup did you use barings or what did you use to ensure smoth turning an so the forks didnt move round?

Nope, no bearings. Basically it's a bushing type. Fromhttp://www.diygokarts.com/chopper-plans/rake-forks.html:

If you look at Fig 2, you'll see the hole that's drilled in the forks. It's 1/2". Then when I made the frame, the fork to frame tube is welded to that. You can see that by itself in fig 1 from http://www.diygokarts.com/chopper-plans/frame-design.html .

That little neck tube thing (heck, i forget what you call it) is tube, not pipe, and has an inside diameter of just over 1/2". I want to say it's 3/4" tube, but don't hold me to that. I'll have to go out to the garage and find out later.

Then, a 1/2" bolt is used to complete the connection, in figs 6-7 on page http://www.diygokarts.com/chopper-plans/rake-forks.html

It works pretty well, too. That's the same method that is used to make the go kart spindles.
