I wanted a more adult style, professional and cooler looking, faster one for myself. Which to me is the racing style rather than cart style, if that's the name? I really like how they look from seeing CarsandCameras.

I'd like to have a racing style one with slicks and a bigger motor, maybe the 13HP Predator. Those can fit on a racing chassis?

Depends on your fabrication skills...it's not just going to bolt on. And those karts are made specifically for race tracks....and not much good for anything else. Also...some are off-set and built specifically for oval tracks and only turn well one way.

Today's update, daughter still on vacation with her mom so I only have mine to work on.

The carburetor didn't arrive on usual UPS time so it'll have to wait for tomorrow to install it.

We heated up the front crash bar and hit it back into place. We used a propane weed burner torch, the Lincoln Electric Inferno one, 500K BTU. I'll have to bondo the dents back into shape though.

I took the wheel off to soak the chain in lubricant to see if it'll revive.

Removed the brake band.

Removed the clutch cover? not sure what it's called. It's cracked on the backside so I need to replace it. Also, what kind of washer do I need to hold it in place? It wasn't being held in by anything. Just slipped off when we took wheel off.

The drum seemed fine other than being caked in rust slime.

It seems I need to order a 5 inch brake band? The drum is 4.75 inches or so, the same as the band when you squeeze the 2 pin areas together.

Went to HD and bought some cotter pins for brakes and for pedal areas after I remove them for painting.

Got an email from jackssmallengines saying some parts had to be backordered, estimated ship date is now 6/7 for all the parts I ordered.

Does anyone know where the oil drain for the Tecumseh is? or do I have to flip it over and drain from it's filling area?

The clutch is a Hilliard brand. The part that is Cracked is Bronze bushing, Should come off the Clutch bell by a Spring clip. That part is replaceable, I got one from BMI karts once.
Check out: http://www.hilliardextremeduty.com/ They have maintenance info and parts on their clutches. It is supposed to be a little nicer than a typical Kart clutch. Different Design than most. You can buy accesories and parts.
Some people complain they are noisy. I can attest to that. but they do work.

Thank you, I found the bushing part. Do you know what I'm missing to keep it in place though? It just slips off as of now. Also, can you tell what size mine is by pics? 5/8 or 3/4? Lastly do you know what size chain I have or how can I find out? I'm not sure what the tooth or # means TBH.

I found this picture of the clutch, I'll have to see if I even have all the right pieces. Their site really didn't give any technical info, just a product summary as far as I could find.

Oh, and can you confirm a 5" brake band is correct?

The clutch I had a year ago +. So I dont remember exactly. I think the bolt that holds it together keeps everything in place once installed. It is meant to come apart easily.
The bushing is an oil absorbant bronze bushing. I think they call it "Oilite Bronze" or something.
Anyway it comes apart easy to be regularly oiled.
Chain. You have to measure tip to tip of the sprockets. 3/8" will be #35 and 1/2 will be 40 and 41.
Just measure the clutch inside diameter. 3/4 or 5/8

I don't mean to be so ignorant but, can you tell me where the inside diameter is?

The inside diameter of the Bronze bushing.


in your Diagram it shows 2 c clips. they hold it all together

No I meant what holds it onto the shaft.

Also, just saw some stuff that says never to oil the clutch, ONLY the bushing. I already have been spraying the heck out of it in and out with lubricant. Is it ruined or should I clean and dry?

It is not ruined. On your diagram... From the left the second piece (actually 4) are the clutch shoes. when spinning they grab the Inside of the clutch Bell. Just clean the lubricant off of those and the inside of the bell, and I think you will be fine.
Someone tell me if I am wrong. the shoes may be absorbent, they are like a man made stone, so???

Ok I'll try that, I'll order the bushing. Man I had no idea you had to oil it after every 4 hours of use. That's a bit annoying to remove everything to access bushing.

It was. But it was cool for me, It was my daughters Kart. (13) so I taught her to do the maintenance. Remove the Chain, Unscrew the bolt, Undo the c clip. Oil clutch, reassemble.

In the long run, we had the chain too tight and broke parts on the clutch, I needed 2 parts and it became cheaper to get a 20 clutch on ebay.

Oh lol.

Anyhow, put the new carb on my gokart today and got it running.
Put 93 gas with Seafoam in it.
Ordered the bushing for clutch and 2 new brake pads.
Still waiting for all the throttle lever and springs for engines.
