Yes...the planet has been going through cycling temperature changes for eons.

However, there are things happening now that have NEVER happened before. This planet has never been assaulted like it is being now...and this is a VERY recent development....directly related to the industrial age...and so much of the third world is joining and the earths population increasing and as mentioned...the WORST offenders are also the new industrial countries that are populating like rats.

Ice Age? Like that was just a natural cycle? Ummmm...yeah I guess so...it's a natural cycle that someday the earth will get hit with another huge asteroid...and affect the atmosphere again.

Meanwhile....five minutes on Google searching 'Global Warming Facts', should convince most intelligent sane people that it's a problem....not just a normal pattern...and won't go away on it's own by ignoring it.

Fixed that for you. I look around at how the refugees in my area treat this land and am disgusted. If they buy property, they cut down all the trees. Then they throw their energy drink cans and food wrappers on the ground. Yet somehow "assimilate" has become a bad word.

Also Waaaay back in 1913 before cars (for the most part) The hottest temp ever recorded on earth was 134° in Death Valley. It has not been that hot there again yet. This "warming" thing sure does work slow!

i was going to say i thought last yer death valley hit 134 but looking into it i see 129 was the max in June. Where i'm at we get 115F (thats about 46 C for non Americans) for at least a week around July/August time frame love the heat!

When mother nature is done with us we will have global warming/cooling, meteor, zombie apocalypse, deadly virus, WWIII nuclear war, alien invasion or for religious people The Rapture!

Earth isn't really going anywhere anytime soon. We are all going to die and it is going to stay. Save the earth? why not save the human race? Anyways, Enjoy life while it lasts. I will enjoy mine on a Go Kart!

Per usual...people want to to look at the wrong places...and use the wrong variables to dismiss global warming.

It doesn't make a pimple on the planet's rear end...WHAT the temperature is in your back yard...or Death Valley. Yes...Europe is headed for a mini ice age...because of global pattern changes.

Just because it gets colder in certain parts of the world...doesn't dismiss nor adress the problem....if it only gets up to barely above freezing in Death Valley...it means nothing....WHAT DOES...is ocean temperature and polar ice cap melt, which affects the oceans....

This may come as a surprise to those in denial....but life on Earth did not start in Death Valley....but in the Ocean....and we still rely on that ecosystem for our lifeblood....and do research on krill....

If you want to make fun of me...or dismiss what I'm saying....FINE!!!! But do it with FACT! Not kneejerk reactions totally unfounded in scientific proof.

BTW...."Cooling period?" Get your HS globe out....look at the size and proportion of the polar ice caps....PULL YOUR HEAD OUT....and figure out the percentage of Oceans vs. dry land....and please explain to me why the total mean temperature of the Earths body of water temperature is RISING....and polar ice caps are melting....and DISAPPEARING during this period of "Global Cooling?"

One of my best friends owns a radiator shop. He's struggling due to the fact that you can go to autozone and buy a Chinese replacement cheaper than he can rebuild them. It's really became a niche market. Regarding pollution, I think most people don't understand manufacturing collateral which is the polloution created by all these factories building new cars and new car related stuff. I like old cars (with big V8's) and when some enviro hippie type tries to talk to me about polloution I explain to them how my truck already exists, the polloution to create it already exists, if I were to recycle it, it would create polloution at every step of the process, them create polloution to make it into a slightly less polluting Prius (subject to debate) in the end, it's greener just to drive my souped up 84 chevy. I also hate this whole air quality in this or that country, we all live on the same planet, there are no air ducts in our skies. We breathe China's poison. We need to bring manufacturing back to this country so we can at least have a chance at controlling it, the EPA needs to realize that by over regulating everything they are actually making the problem worse by just letting (insert 3rd world country of your choice here) do it and get cheaper labor to boot. It's all about money, the powers that be care little for the health and well being of you and I.



I'm going to stop before this becomes a full blown rant and I get kicked off of here.

No....you get it..(and this WAS the whole point of the thread before we got "sidetracked" ...on global warming) ....but really, that's part of the point too....

It's NOT really a separate issue....although....unless people can put two and two together....and at LEAST RESEARCH the effects of global warming...it's pointless to discuss it....

BTW: Can any of you "Closet PHD'S" explain why the the life blood of the Ocean...(krill) is disappearing at an unprecedented rate?

It is the lack of Whaling. Since we have switched from Whale oil to Mineral oil the seas have become overpopulated with Baleen whales.
This overpopulation has led to the favorite food of such whales "KRILL" being depleted.
When the krill numbers get low enough the whales will starve, and die. Then the krill numbers will rise to whatever level you have been taught was "normal" and the whale population will again rise.
It is just the ebb and flow of nature taking care of itself.
Humans can effect either, by whaling or not whaling.

My Master's, is in engineering, and I would rather go do donut's in my big block truck than spend a bunch of time debating thing's that are well outside of my control on the internet

I will say this, electric car's, there's no stopping them. Zero emissions vehicles will be the norm in another 50 years period. Zero emissions power generation is a simple thing to achieve, and something many companies are working on currently.

Long term, whether we are causing permanent damage or not, we won't be in a few generations.

Cute story ....obviously...not a bit rooted in fact. In fact...as I previously stated...nearly everything that swims in the ocean depends on krill....soooo....to take your lame explanation.....there would be a huge swing in population ratios, right?

Can you back that up? Really? If these whales are overgrazing on krill...then their population growth should be disapropriate with every other species....which is not the case.

Again: just like Death Valley....the real problem is not that simplistic...the krill deficit has been figured out scientifically...and its simple and fascinating....but in a nutshell...it's WHEN total ice cap occurs in the the ice cap regions.

See..."Global Warming " confuses the weak of mind...it DOESN'T MEAN THE WHOLE WORLD IS BURNING UP.

But it does mean the globe patterns are being disrupted
...and where they are IS IMPORTANT!

Krill are declining because WHEN the polar ice cap areas are freezing over is happening LATER! Just as I said earlier...I have witnessed first hand the changes in wildlife migration. So...if you have a baby...and you don't feed it for two weeks.....ummmm...guess what?

There's one that I know of, the ever increasing hole in the ozone layer... which Australia copped the blame for, either because we "own" Antarctica or because we're the closest industrial nation... but, there's much more polluted countries in the world than Australia...

One thing Australia doesn't have is a space program; all the rockets Russia & the U.S. sent into space over the past 50 or so years had to leave & re-enter the atmosphere somewhere... funny how Russia & the U.S. were the first to lay blame on Australia...

As for excessive carbon in the atmosphere, one word: BORNEO!

6th grade science tells us the plants breathe in carbon dioxide & breathe out oxygen, animals breathe in oxygen & breathe out carbon dioxide; as the ratio of animalslants increases due to the rise in human & other animal populations & the destruction of rainforests & natural bushland, so does the level of carbon in the atmosphere... but, i guess all the politicians on the planet forgot about 6th grade science...

I haven't heard of any of this happening. Or let me say *in any way that is within human intervention or cause*.

I don't mind electric cars, but I'd much rather have hydrogen powered just because then I can fill up faster than it would to use a Tesla Supercharger and wait 45 minutes. Plus the nearest Supercharger to me is all the way in Albert Lea, MN a good hour plus south of me on I-35. I do take my pop cans to the recycling center whenever I get a good chunk of them. They use to give you a bonus every time you go over 50lbs, but that changed a few years ago. Plus the price has been next to nothing, usually its $0.45 per pound, but at its peak it was about $0.75 per pound. I usually go about once a year.

I have a lot of glass Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew bottles in the garage, that I'd love to sell back...but they quit doing that years ago. As far as electric vehicles go...they are no cleaner than our gas and diesel burners...when you consider how the mining technique is for Lithium, then the process of actually producing electricity (majority is still coal) and even the process of making the vehicles themselves (metal, plastic, rubber, etc). It would take a lot to make the whole entire process much cleaner. You would have to have large solar farms or wind turbines generating the power to mine it or zero emission renewable fuel. Top of that we would need alternatives for cleaner process of making rubber and smelting metals.

The whole global warming thing...I'm on the side that we didn't create it and that it happens...but we are also not helping anything by cutting down trees. I wouldn't mind building an electric Kart or something there of, if it were actually feasible to do it just as cheaply as getting an engine. One thing that never took off was Formula Zero, which was an organization that made a few hydrogen powered sprint karts that raced...in the name of showing that you can have racing without gasoline or diesel.

I am part of the millennial generation, and I am severely disappointed on how mindless a lot of them are. They would rather point the finger at the older people, or feel entitled to everything...part of which was how some were brought up. But I do blame the self-entitlement as one of the main causes...plus the fact that schools only teach one side of the story and that our texts books suck. Our text books only gave a synopsis on history or whatever, since they are too lazy to give lectures on everything. History is bound to repeat itself if we continue to ignore our past to learn from it.
