I don't mind electric cars, but I'd much rather have hydrogen powered just because then I can fill up faster than it would to use a Tesla Supercharger and wait 45 minutes. Plus the nearest Supercharger to me is all the way in Albert Lea, MN a good hour plus south of me on I-35. I do take my pop cans to the recycling center whenever I get a good chunk of them. They use to give you a bonus every time you go over 50lbs, but that changed a few years ago. Plus the price has been next to nothing, usually its $0.45 per pound, but at its peak it was about $0.75 per pound. I usually go about once a year.

I have a lot of glass Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew bottles in the garage, that I'd love to sell back...but they quit doing that years ago. As far as electric vehicles go...they are no cleaner than our gas and diesel burners...when you consider how the mining technique is for Lithium, then the process of actually producing electricity (majority is still coal) and even the process of making the vehicles themselves (metal, plastic, rubber, etc). It would take a lot to make the whole entire process much cleaner. You would have to have large solar farms or wind turbines generating the power to mine it or zero emission renewable fuel. Top of that we would need alternatives for cleaner process of making rubber and smelting metals.

The whole global warming thing...I'm on the side that we didn't create it and that it happens...but we are also not helping anything by cutting down trees. I wouldn't mind building an electric Kart or something there of, if it were actually feasible to do it just as cheaply as getting an engine. One thing that never took off was Formula Zero, which was an organization that made a few hydrogen powered sprint karts that raced...in the name of showing that you can have racing without gasoline or diesel.

I am part of the millennial generation, and I am severely disappointed on how mindless a lot of them are. They would rather point the finger at the older people, or feel entitled to everything...part of which was how some were brought up. But I do blame the self-entitlement as one of the main causes...plus the fact that schools only teach one side of the story and that our texts books suck. Our text books only gave a synopsis on history or whatever, since they are too lazy to give lectures on everything. History is bound to repeat itself if we continue to ignore our past to learn from it.

Right on buddy.....

With everything except global warming. Now....someone is on their cell phone texting...the car in front of them slams on their brakes for no reason.....who caused the accident????

I have a bigger problem with people who want to deny and dismiss global warming as liberal rhetoric. Anyone who in fact believes that is a victim of the opposite propaganda.

I used the 13 year old as an analogy because I've "been there....done that" ...and been on both sides of the fence. For a liberal to convince me of anything....first he has to prove he's not an idiot....and that's a huge hill to climb.

As far as graduating college at 11 or 13....it wasn't done when I was for a simple reason...it wasn't possible back then. Which is why I sometimes have a short fuse with the whiny generation. Could I have done it? Quite possibly....they wanted to skip me a couple of grades when I was in the third grade...my mom didn't want it because she thought it would be harmful to my social development.

School was very boring to me...mainly just sketching on notebook paper while waiting for the dummies to catch up. If you throw out history...my PSAT scores are all above 90%. (History was like 84%)....now...that means...in the whole country...I got more answers correct than 90% of the population.

But again...just like the temperature in Death Valley....pointing out exceptions to the rule kinda misses the point.

And yeah....I started this thread....and the whole global warming issue....but...if you're going to go against it....the burden of proof is on those that disagree....and would indeed bolster ....rather than retract....from my position....because...as I said: "Do the research! "

It's easier to build a 200 mph gokart with HF wheels than change opinions. Y'all have to do it yourself. Not my job to hand it to you. (Although I could saturate you with scientific fact...if I could link..) Better that you wade through the information...and come to your own conclusions....because....while ignorance is bliss....arguing based on heresy just doesn't cut it.

Poboy just dropped the mic.....:surrender:

BTW: Someone said: "Prove ocean levels are rising."

Well...that's easy: "Just Google: 'rising Ocean levels' .

Of course all those organizations are just liberal propagandist like NOOA and NASA.

As with all man made problems follow the money.

MrC.

Yeah....unfortunately, I don't have the solution....only ignorance of the problem can't help. Trying to ignore or minimize the problem won't help.

One man CAN make a difference though, proven in the 40's and the last 8 years.Easier to destroy something than build it up or fix it though!

New deal in my mind messed everything up in the long run, especially since SS money gets taken away for no reason.

Fun thread.

When I was a young kid, I was a bit of a firebug. A book of matches was gold! No kid possessed a zippo, only their parents did.
Then someone invented the disposable lighter. My Mom had one given to her when they first came out. I was fascinated.
I asked her where do you fill it. She said you don't. What? A lighter that you don't refill, what do you do with it when it's empty?
You throw it away she said.

My brain exploded!
How could you take something so superior to matches, something so coveted by a little firebug like me, and just throw it away???

Right then and there, at 5 or 7 or however old I was at the time, I saw it as clear as a bell.
I was living in one screwed up world.

It hasn't gotten any better since.

We are not doing anything to the Earth except putting back into the atmosphere the carbon that was already there at one time. You know the major building block of all life on this planet. I do however have a problem with the rockets punching holes in the ozone layer a mile or more in diameter for each one sent up.

I like to recycle, its fun and sometimes a big cost saving, let me share:

Motor oil - I use it once in my cars/trucks/Karts then I pour it around the footer of my house to kill weeds and bugs yet returning it to mother earth where it came from- see the circle of life.

Tires- I use them once on my cars/trucks/Karts then I make tire swings, rubber washers then I use them to burn my trash at night, once they light its all good. They even get hot enough to burn the metal bits in my house hold trash.

Batteries- I use them in the manner in which they were designed then, I pour out all that icky stuff which can be used for paint stripper and wart remover ( FYI ) then I take the lead out melt it down and pour it into my aluminum cans before I take them to the local recycler, the plastic cases make great bird houses and storage boxes for food and such.

So see recycling can be fun, profitable and a real cost saving.

Is it even safe to dump oil into the ground? We take all oil to the county hazardous waste recycling center and they deal with it.

Wait there's more:
Ever get prepaid envelopes in you junk mail. great just cross out there information on the front and write in your electric company or mortgage and send it to them. Free mailing.

One the subject of mailing, it someone was to put the sender information in the middle front and the receivers information in the upper left corner but accidently forgot to put a stamp on it and used one of those blue drop off mail boxes where would it go?

Now back to being cheap next time your in a drive through window grab all the crap in your floor boards and maybe even a bag of trash from home and dump it in the trash can located just past the window.

While your out go by the recycle container and grab a stack of old newspapers, it will give you something to read so you will be worldly and you can use it as free toilet paper, bird cage liners, fire starting, and also works for automotive body work filler.

Ever eat at one of those fancy restaurants were they have those handy wipes? grab them and from any nearby empty tables, that will save you a lot of money on soap and wash cloths even water.

Speaking of water I have a sprinkler on my roof to keep my house cool in the summer, but then I catch it in the gutters in a rain barrel, which then feeds the dog bowls. if you don't have dogs you could run it back into the house for toilet water or bath tub use then toilet water.

Don't waste the poo either, take that pipe loose form the septic tank and run it over to your garden, sure your tomato's may taste funny but they will be the size of a volleyball.

but don't hook your laundry up to the septic tank oh no, run it out to the ditch, you don't want that mess in your garden. yuck!.

Shall I continue?

MrC, I believe in recycling as well as repurposing.
Do you take your pennies and nickels, melt them down, and take them to the recycling center? They're worth much more that way!

How about opening up all those used batteries, saving the acid, and filling paint balls guns with it for firing at peoples cars who piss you off?
What about taking the lead out of them, melting it down, and purifying the lead by evaporating all that nasty stuff into green house gasses?
You can then use the lead to make bullets after adding some antimony and tin recycled from people's roofs while they're on vacation.

Another thing you can do with old tires is to fill them with water, and let it stand a good long time. Mosquitoes will thrive in them, which will then feed the bats and the birds.

If you want to rewire your house but don't have time to pull out all that old wiring and take it to the recycler, in these parts we just leave our doors unlocked while we go on a trip, and the tweekers will take care of it all for you.

Another thing you can do to help with global warming, is to turn your AC on full, open your fridges and freezers, and also open your windows, this will be doing your part in helping the world to cool down.

I'm sure there's more, I'll get back to you later.

Edited to add: I do like your idea of burning the tires. The soot and carbon in the air helps to block sunlight, which also helps to reverse global warming.

Of course it is...just zoom out on Google maps..and you'll see it's just a dot...how can THAT hurt?

Of course...why bother? "Oil is a renewable resource..." yeah...just like water.

The earth is indestructible! !!!! Mankind has the power in it's hands to destroy it in a day....(or did you geniuses forget about nuclear weapons? ) Just because technology is doing it slower....doesn't mean it isn't happening! )

Still waiting for some scientific proof....

I doubt very much so that anyone would want to be responsible for blowing up the whole planet and killing humanity...even if we are not the only ones.

Let's hope not...but the point is modern technology can destroy almost all life on earth....whether it be in a day....or a hundred years.

Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another.

Albert Einstein

Well if we destroy the earth we will just be changing it for the next residence. Like flipping a house.
poboy I cant get a read on you. Are you a tree hugging hippie type or just an old kurmuggin .
