My only concern is that my wheels my have too much traction (I have big snow hog tires on them now) and wont let me turn well

I'm gonna need new wheels, because the ones I have now are desighned to run on spindles, and have no place for a hub. They are 6".

Could someone show me what wheel I would need?

Take a look at the picture and let me know if you think the bearings would be close enough to the ends.

PS: Is my band brake gonna be weaker with the live axle?

I don't think you want to put the bearings there. I see a taco'd axle in your near future. Best to alter the frame first. Plus, you don't want the sprocket outboard of the bearing. The chain will induce more stress on the axle, and you're likely to have chain tensioning issues as the axle flexes

It's not a good idea to drill through a tube to bolt on a pillow block bearing, it will eventually brake the tube and one of the holes, unless you weld in a through tube. I would either weld on a azusa bearing hanger or weld on a 3/16" plate to bolt a pillow bearing.

I would get rid of he band brakes and install a hydrolic setup especially on a 2 seat.
