So, Alex, was I too hard on him? I mean, just from what I learned in industrial pneumatics, I could (loosely) follow your math, and I almost flunked math and geometry in school. So what part of it do you think he's totally failed to understand (other than all of it)?????

I don't think so... ;) but that's not on me to decide :D

What he failed to understand?
your guess is as good as mine!

If I had to make an assumption, I'd say it's that he's dealing with speed in it's third power when moving through air;
and that this alone will seriously stop his acceleration way before he hit 200mph.

I mean a single m/s (2.24 mph) makes a huge difference already

1 m/s cubed is still 1
2 m/s cubed is 8 times the needed power already!
3 m/s cubed is 27
..
10 cubed is 1000 and so on and so forth!
that's a very steep increase in needed power for every -ever so small- increase in speed.

Well Tony, in case ForceFed talks indeed about physics...
allow me to do some math.

Renesis weighs about 124 kg (oh that's the W'ankel engine)
adding a bit of drivetrain and chassis, a brake maybe and a driver
I think it's fair to say I'm very gentle when I claim the finished kart will weigh at least 220kg.

MORE than 200mph (89.4 m/s) again, I think it's fair to assume 90 m/s (201.3 mph)

Now, the hard part..
wind coefficient, frontal area, air drag... hard to tell, but I think the final number will be very much in the realms of 0.53 kg/m
and again, I swear I was tweaking that in Klaudio's favour!
but that's a liquid cooled engine, so I had to assume a radiator, right?

shall we?
okay 220kg * 9.81m/s² * 0.02 * 90 m/s = 3884.76 Watts
well, that's great, we can move the final kart over a concrete road (never a problem at high speeds is it?)
but can we move the kart THROUGH AIR ?

0.53 kg/m * (90 m/s)³ = 386370 Watts
Yes, that's right... 386.4 kW of power...

together 390.3kW (roughly 523 hp!!)
more than TWO times the power the Renesis has (170kW in the bigger version)

Now Tony, from your guts...
Do you think the 184kW (248 hp) will get him to that speed?
with still less than half the power needed?

But let's be fair and assume he adds some more modifications to that engine
you still need to agree that that kind of additional power at least reads very very unlikely...

What can I say, other than
"I seriously doubt it!"

Mounting a renesis to some kart... sure, that should be very well possible... (I think that's what you meant by saying 'nothing is impossible')
but fullfilling his insane claim of going faster than 200 mph with it..
I'll eat Bart's shorts if he does!

he wouldn't even reach that speed if he'd be dropped from a commercial airliner in his kart!

So, what you're saying is it's EXTREMELY improbable :lolgoku:

the thing is rarely no one has done this, no one has posted any methods of how to do this

Have you, JUST ONCE, stopped to wonder why? The math is right there ^^ even it says it can't be done...

Okay.. that was fun while it lasted...
but now it's getting ridiculous.

yes, and in case you wonder.. the new Jag F-Type R has the 550 horses you'd need.
have fun, and congratulations for your Darwin Award in advance.

I'm out...

FYI a Rotary engine expert just got back to me about the project told me that this is actually possible. This guy is an actual engineer and the only worry he said he had was stopping and we have that more than covered. He also said that your calculations were not relevant to the drive train of the go kart and its design and that it will have more than enough power to reach 200 MPH.

The HotAir express continues to barrel off the tracks......

More talk, zero proof. We have an emoji for this type of thread. :horse: :horse: :horse: :horse:

Ok, I'm done too.

An "engineer" told you that the math wasn't relevant? Did they get their degree from a cracker jack box by chance?

I tell you what kid (yes kid, because that's what I see, a child) you go ahead and try it then, and either A: fail miserably, or B: kill yourself, become a vegetable for the rest of your life.

Just remember : We here at diygk are not responsible for your failure, death, serious injury (or any injury) of your self, or others. We can not, and will not be held liable for your own ignorance, bull headed-ness, or otherwise pure stupidity. You have been warned multiple times (6 pages worth!!!) and still continue to argue with those that are obviously more A: intelligent B: have a better understanding of the mechanics, physics, and other aspects C: more EXPERIENCED in all matters both go kart related, as well as vehicle, and math related. You proceed with this at your own risk.

I for one would LOVE for this "engineer" to come on here and SHOW us how they think that they can overcome the minimum needed amount of power to combat the forces of air itself, without actually hitting even half of that minimum power.

They won't though, because you just made it up, like all of this diarrhea you have spouted. What we have stated is based in FACT, not your fantasy.

Would one of the mods PLEASE lock this down before we all lose more IQ points?? There is no further information that could possibly be helpful in this thread.

You do realise I couldn't care less about any of your opinions now because I have found an actual engineer, I stress actual engineer who went to university to become an engineer who has a excellent understanding of physics. I wouldn't be offended if you deleted this thread because I don't need your help any more not that you were offering it in the first place.

Yup, sure you have Mr. 137 IQ.

Not one shred of anything but your talk though.

Sure, why not, we believe you, you've been so correct on every other point, so why not...:sarcasm:

Does this mean you won't send us any pics, or should we just wait to see the failed results on the evening news?
By the way, I have a real world understanding of physics, the first rule of which is "Do something stupid involving motorized vehicles and the odds of you getting dead are real good".

Gotta love this guy

I have access to a mustang drivetrain that is supercharged with triple stage nitrous. How fast you think i can go with it bolted to my 16 foot boat trailer. I can put a handle on the trailer jack and steer it like a rudder.

Is it the v6 mustang or the Roush edition. That really is gonna make a difference in your top speed.
