I have been playing with the thought that I should make a go kart with a car engine and axle. The car in question is a mazda rx/8 because of its bhp per liter. I have a few ideas running the engine at the steering column at an angle and then have the drive shaft go under the seat and to the the limited slip diff which is attached either behind the chassis or on the chassis. I plan on shortening the drive shaft by half and then extending the go kart by nearly a meter which should give enough space for the drive line. I plan on putting a cold air intake which will give me an extra 20 hp on top of the 228 hp stock. This makes more than 50 bhp more than that r1 kart and is only a bit heavier. It will have beefy front brake from a motorbike and maybe rears if I can work with them, if not then I will put on a parachute. I want to keep it low as possible and it will be reinforced as much as we can. I am making this for the go kart speed world record Any advice on the project would be greatly appreciated and I will be posting pictures of the project.
