The boot is stiff and doesn’t allow the thing to flex at all. but I’ll still look into a bracket the pedal is now hooked up. Some more procrastination and I’m going out for the first test ride.
I would take all that squared off frame work you got back there and make a nice and big filtered air box for that carb.
Might even consider incorporating a support bracket for the carb end. Its likely to get a bit of whipping action in that location.

Test ride was a massive success! this thing has loads of torque you can’t even get on it. Waiting on brakes so I can get it back in the field.

Is it an old 440 out of a 70s raider sled? I've got one of those sitting on the shelf... Might end up in a kart

It is a jlo rockwell 440 Engine from a scorpion whip?? The tac says scorpion and I guess it’s almost exactly like a cuyyuna? and to tell you the truth if the buggy isn‘t up to my standards I always had the plan to mill the shaft down to 1” slap on a clutch and run it on the streaker. the legged engine mount is near identical to a kohlers legged engine mount.

blew the tires off and took out the log splitter. the bad news stoved the shroud in busted the hydraulic fitting off flush and mangled the dipstick. The front end bent a bit and the tie rod end snapped. The good Is I mended the ran over fence. I completely fixed the steering with a Suzuki tie rod. and the dipstick was replaced. Still work to do on the 5hp but overall no real harm done. I mean I stepped on it and spun around on me instantly. rolled back to where it was in the photo. It pushed the splitter and buggy that far They were up against the fence.AC9D7759-4CFF-49AC-9828-E975297DF672.jpeg73119C75-E324-41E6-9A08-518BB02F5C87.jpegE5509DAE-46DB-47BB-9B5F-6DD2550F5DA4.jpeg

It’s not a 440 or even a 400 it‘s the lowest compression 398 they put on these sleds. that will make working with the vm34 slightly easier. The plug gap calls for .020 and the plugs in it were .030 and .037 fixed that. It runs amazing. I just can’t do anything without brakes.AC065D51-203D-4099-9EC1-FB592BF5DC4D.jpeg

Went to start it and it only ran on one cylinder. Compression readings on both are good. Check spark and there’s only one plug firing swap plugs and other cylinder stops firing. pull plugs and visually check that one plug just wont fire when connected to either wire. Guy at the parts store cross referenced the 7909 plugs to a bmw that’s odd? tossed them in and it’s running stronger then ever. I’m very very slowly gaining the trust of the kittens. And the birds nest in my welding helmet has four new squeakers in it. There’s a couple Chihuahua’s running around here somewhere. what a solid day.AD11BD0C-EEEE-47A2-89F9-83A0F82F3DCB.jpeg10A20CCA-714C-4880-A2DD-F05C273C1F2E.jpeg5E077EC4-C284-438C-9069-076A629EDE35.jpeg

I caved and asked for help from the higher ups. they were appalled to see no fuel filter. next they were correct dirt in the bowl. It plugged the thing the needle sits down into. Made it real lazy. And my pops was correct b8es is not long enough it does not sit far down enough into the chamber. the plugs he bought me were correct after all. I re-vamped the fuel system adding a fuel filter and thoroughly cleaned the vm34 one last time. Also adding an air filter. Again running strong as ever... (for now) once all was cleaned it idled very very high for some reason. Turned it down and all is well.A7CB8BA3-16D4-4F5C-A728-9A05D30712C6.jpeg

How on this earth did I miss the plug being listed as n-3 original equipment In the chart above? I’m not about to pay 290$ to buy four sparkplugs...

Yup, their a very smart animal!
The problem I guess would be keeping them? Not like them running away but like you telling one person your raising a wolf/coyote and they tell the whole neighborhood and animal control gets involved? If you raise a wolf/coyote to be tame enough can you keep them?

I had a coy dog years ago for almost 15 years. According to DNR officer was legal to own. She was the smartest animal I ever met. Loved to be in the garage working on things as odd as it sounds. Oh, and I have witnesses! She even took off on a golfkart by herself one time.
