Will it idle with choke?
No idle with the choke we’re gonna fix that I’m going oldschool with a home made carb flange.. ps: yardsale paint. Paint the back blue spray blue over the yellow. For now it’s just me unjanking stuff. AF112987-653F-4749-86E0-A73B7D617DF0.jpeg

Ok the cost just went up. One can of blue paint and one can of black paint. Alao a cutting disk. some welding wire for the rack. Total cost now 130$ guesstimated. Now to clean up the wiring and work on bleeding the brakes. work around the carb swap I’m dreading on figuring out.7006C8E0-8B93-4B9D-AEE7-4B1CE3CECC27.jpeg9EE70D76-7F29-41BF-BA7A-15F20E4B75D2.jpeg

The caliper works new pads or a new caliper with pads is being ordered. the wiring Is hillbilly genius there piggie backing the whole harness off one connector. I’m leaving it be and taping it all back up just to look neater. The seat also pivots! And that’s not a fault it’s an actual feature! While taking this picture I did realize the whole time I’ve been trying to get it running I pulled a musti1 left both plugs loose just threaded in and never noticed. I’m buttoning up the wiring tighten the plugs. I feel like I’ll be making a flange and a 31mm mikuni is in order. 8813E1C4-9C2F-4791-AFC3-A26669C5CB7E.jpeg

Ok so the two black wires one for each coil to ground the coil and shut off spark from the keyswitch. That is it. They are two wires that run from the connector on the engine directly to the keyswitch harness connector. every other wire is gone. There not needed anymore.

Now we’re getting somewhere! This boot fits my 76mm flange on the intake! and fit’s a 34mm mikuni! the Cost just shot way up! my pops said it perfectly! They spent so much time and some money building it the things left to do on it seemed monumental to them. When I picked up for 100$ I just fixed all the small problems first and there is only two or three major things to work out.. the carburetor and brake caliper being the two majors. this buggy with a mikuni will be a new beast! 34mm crank pulse plugged gravity fed no return and just a vent line! I will figure it out. it might just take me a bit.B3400517-1687-4072-B0CB-966B5389D266.jpeg

It takes me so long to figure stuff out. dohh gravity feeding it with the pulse line hooked up and a return tank. it’s not gonna work! now I need a tank lower then the carb with the inlet/return running to the same tank. If I pull it with the key off and it sucks up fuel out of the tank lower then the carburetor then I have my answer that the pulse is working as it needs to. this all makes sense now well a lot more then it did two days ago. the carburetor was really clean with new gaskets. If it primes turn the key on and see what happens. this whole time I have been trying to musti1 it and just fill a piece of fuel line. not gonna work here!

Mikuni time. it picks up fuel runs won’t idle then dies. cup my hand over the carburetor it picks back up. there are no vacuum leaks it’s completely due to the block style walbro everyone says is junk anyway.

And confirmed with tearing the carburetor down one last time it’s spotless. will pulse fuel all the way from the tank through to the return. Will not even fire without the bottle. will run rev up then die. I have tried to make this carburetor work but it‘s just not happening.

I just bought this for a hundred bucks and would love some pointers on the engine!View attachment 139508View attachment 139509

Couple things I picked up on
Rockwell. JLO and Rockwell morphed together at some point. They were on several brands.
Not Polaris, they went with Fuji early on
2 cyl
2 stroke , premix only era, anywhere from 20:1 to 40:1. Go with 20:1 if you don't know.
Air cooled, axial fan. You need the fan belt
CVT:
Drive kinda looks familiar, maybe a powerbloc style?
Driven is also a drum brake

Left side chaincase, no reed valve, that exhaust from a dirt bike?
Single carb Walbro. Maybe WD1, WD9?
Has points, guess you already found that out
Best guess is that everything from carb to engine to CVT to chain case came from the same sled.

Hit the nail on the head. WDA-30 everything that has to do with engine/driveline came from a scorpion snowmobile. points work. no reeds. And finally yes Suzuki st185 stinger that has been on the buggy for what looks like a long time.

If that pipe came off a 185 chances are it is too smalll and a restriction. 2 jokes are really particular about restrictions. May be part of you’re problems.

The carburetor flange and vm34 are on the way. 35 idle 330 main and P0 needle Seems to be getting the 440 scorpions in the ball park for jetting. Major updates such as moving the seat forward and completely redoing the pedal systems. I think someone built this and never once run it. Because the engine mount I just found out is only two stitch welds? not even finished? and the fourth rubber mount was never even made? Someone put a lot of work just building this and I believe 100% they never had it moving under it’s own power ever. I finished and braced the mount and also. Brake pads are also ordered. Smashing my head of the cage is fun! 1418A3DC-5694-4BE2-A859-D914967934B9.jpeg31C57303-C838-41E7-976D-C5D5A588A445.jpeg
