hello, as i said all i wanted to do was to make it feel tight and compact to reenact the feel of particular import cars i use to see come into the shop and get a full interior makeover filled with roll cage bars and all aluminium interior, its purely an individual preference or self satisfaction aside from flying out we both know most seat belt design is good enough to keep you strapped in,it may not look like its a deep pod but being 5'8 the way its made it lays you in pretty good,i would have preferred making a street only kart but due to the fact i live in a desert terrain landscape i guess you could say i mixed in a bit of both, as this being my first time in designing a kart i take it as a trial an error and learning stage towards what i have in mind for my next project which will incorporate a d16z6 engine from a civic i swapped long ago as its only collecting dust now ,and if not for this generous site i would not be ready to take this task on,but since i got one year worth of research and now you guys to help me out i shouldnt worry right hahaha lol,but thanks for the thought an opinion as the more minds put together the better the evolution, lol

wow finally got the chain hooked it up test drove it and everything went well, i was not however ready to expect that much torque and power from this engine got my heart rate pumping quite fast the first time i was thinking at first it would start slow an creep up considering my kart is heavy enough to strain your bac picking it up but it performance was quite impressive, and due to no front suspension the ride does get quit bumpy at certain spots but the wheels spin too much under full thottle making it difficult to test a good speed run, would it be because of my gear setup, and is it normal that the chain seemed to have stretch a bit that i have to remove another link on it now so it dont slip off,is that normal its a 40 chain btw.

Your wheels spinning just means you have lots of torque. What type of terrain are you riding on? They will probably always spin on gravel if you try floor it too fast

hey, the terrain here is loose dirt and sand wheels i have on are just street tires so its hard keeping it straight cause the rear starts to spin out thats probably why ,one question is it normal that the steering is very responsive ,and is able to make very sharp turns at higher speeds which i can see why some karts sit lower, i guess i just need to get use to it but i'll try to upload a vid as soon as time available thank guys

upload it to youtube, then click to watch it, copy and paste the URL that has the word "watch" in it into a post here. i tried copying and posting the URL that youtube first provided (that didn't have the word "watch" in the URL) and that didn't work.

you didn't follow directions very well. lol.

click your own link, and when it opens you'll see that it has a different URL at the top of the screen that has the word "watch" in it. copy that URL and paste it into a post here.

if you do not understand this, then there is no hope for you. lol.

Your kart sounds good. I can see what you mean about the rear tyres spinning. You are definately going to have to get some offroad knobby tyres if you want to control that.

Good work though!!

hey i think these cheap shocks are too soft and not strong enough any recommendation to better quality shocks/springs and not so soft and bouncy

hello its been awhile but i ran into a problem hopefully someone can help, is it common that the spindle which the hub fits on to, and is the size of a 5/8 bolt to end up breaking off sending one of my wheels flying and giving me a taste of heart attack lucky i managed to gain some control after the sudden 28,29 mph hard right pull as the wheel said good bye ,with the sudden right plunge came the effects of soft rear suspension reacting to the shift and for a moment i swear i flew off my kart seat then i realize i had that 4 point seat belt all harnessed against me while the nose dived the flat metal plate i welded up front as a guard actually helped the kart skid causing a colorful firework rather then digging in as i pressed the kill switch, brakes and steered to a stop, dang wat a day it was anyways ,whats the probably cause the road was flat and i was going straight just suddenly it flew off ill upload pics later if you observe closely you will see it literally broke off im going for honda front end this second round lol...

Could be a bad weld. If it wasn't welded, it could just be a defect in the metal. Post those pics. Maybe some close-ups of the spindle

PS: I was typeing when you said they were from BMI. I would also give them a call and complain
