Regarding the belt- "Tension" on a CVT is not measured, in the traditional sense. You need to look up the Comet belt chart, and find your belt model #. It will show and exact distance from driver center to driven center. You must be within 1/8" of this measurement for your CVT to perform to its peak. If you cannot find this chart, publish your belt # here, and we will look it up!

hi

first your kart is so hot ! i never seen someone doing a homemade kart that look alot better than an original racing kart! i think your kart can take a bigger engine and i was thinking of a bike engine like a minimum of 15 hp to a maximum of 25-30. its look like you will not be able to go over 25 mph with that engine but you have made a frame strongh enought to take 60+ mph

i would like to have some info about your braking systeme cause with the pic you have posted i evaluated that it weight 300-350 lbs so if you follow my advice or your planning going over 30 mph you would need at least some front disc brake.

but for the rest you have the sexiest homemade kart that i had never seen !!

aaahh i get you now,i did measureand came close to about 9 3/8 off by couple mm, belt number was 203787A,so in reference to all this should i be adjusting it to exactly 9 3/8 thanks.

thank you for your thoughts on this and yes in the begining i was gonna go wit a ninja 600 bike but the motor was sold faster then i could have thought an there were other engines but priced way to high so jus settled with duromax for now ,and the brake system im still in the market for the best price and options as soon as i figure it out ill post it up

okay yall,it is at its final stage in production, just got few touch up to do,only problem is all this hard work only to have to wait on a delayed chain, harness belt and brake due to back ordered digital tach so im forced to wait before testing the open top is not made as a roll cage im not planning on doing jumps and risk rollovers i simply wanted to feel more compact and strapped in tight,it will have hydraulics later and is held closed by racing hood pins, the seat still needs to be fully bolted on also ,hopefully everthing will go well as planned if theres anything feel free to ask ,this is all ive been able to complete due to parts delayed but ill upload once it ready to test thanks guys for everything heres a full 360 view of how it sits right now enjoy...

Your chain should not be tight. It should have some slack in it, but not too much

Not so tight that it strains the clutch but not so loose that you skip teeth or throw the chain completely: Somewhere between 1/2" & 1" of movement in the chain

We always tell customers on a typical karting application you want about 1/4" of play in the chain when adjusted. On a mini-bike or an application with a 4-5 foot chain, typically you want a little less play.
