2019 Hydraulic brake master cylinder part 4

I have finally fabricate a mount for the motorcycle master cylinder. It is bolted onto existing location. If it doesn't work, then I will just go back to the previous master cylinder.

2019 Front wheel hub part 1

There is a problem with my front wheel hub. The bearing is busted.

Spec calls for 4x4 wheel hub which was purchased from BMI kart.

4 x 4 Heavy Duty Wheel Hub (Front with 5/8" Bearing)
Part Number:K260056

I am not quite sure what has caused the bearing to bust. Could have been me.

When it was installed, I have made sure the wheel hub rotates freely. It was not installed too tight nor loose_just the right amount. Maybe, it was too much stress on the hub due to testing.

Anyway, here are some pics who is thinking of using the same hub.

2019 Front wheel hub part 2

Found replacement bearing on Amazon.

Next issue, how to remove and replace bearing.

Bang it out or buy a press from Harbor freight.

Or build one myself. It seems easy enough and beside, I can build with better steel.

2019 Front wheel hub part 3

I am replacing the front wheel hub with this item:

"4 x4 Plated Steel Wheel Hub with Taper Roller Bearing - 5/8" ID".

It looks like it may last longer than previous option.

Item received.

There are 5/8 inch bushings which goes in the bearing to accommodate the 5/8" spindle. That may pose a problem because it may not stay in place. It moves freely and may not remain on the bearing.

I cut a 5/8" DOM pipe to fit in between the two bushings.

2019 brake bleeding jig

Rigged up something to bleed the brake by yourself.

Just push and hold the lever to activate the brake, release the brake valve, close the valve and release the lever.

Glad I could help! What kind of rear tires are those and where did you get them and how much did they cost?

Denny

Tires were bought from Amazon for $100.00

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077H2BNB9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Rims were also from Amazon. (2) for 18.00

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009GPM11Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Note: These tires are great off road, grass and or mud, however on the street, there are too much drag.

2019 Front wheel hub part 6

On previous post, I was using the 5/8" spindle and I just feel uneasy with the movable bushing inside new hub.

I have decided to buy new spindle from OMB warehouse "Spindle Only, 3/4-16 Axle X 4-1/2" Length, 5/8" Kingpin, Side #1, Nylon Inserts"

It is a lot smoother than the other ones that I have installed.

Enclosed are the failed bearings. Too much friction has worn down the side thin wall on the bearing.

2019 Go Kart overall update

As I have wrapped up the go kart, there are some final pics of the go kart as finished stage.

Hopefully, all major updates has been addressed. Murphy's law would probably dictate future issues. For now, it is time for serious test drives.

I will update issues as it comes up.

Wow that's real slick
good job

Thanks.

Started in August 2018 and now almost the end of March 2019. A little more than 7 months. I would have never guessed that it would have taken this long or how intensive the build.

Along the way, I have deviated from original plan and result were better looking. If I have sticked to original plan, I would have finished earlier. However, the result would have been your typical go kart. With the changes, the go kart fits me and I am satisfied with the result.

I would have to recommend to all and any newbie to go ahead and go for it. It is definitely worth the trip.

2019-Predator Engine Choke

Predator Engine choke

Has anyone rig up a system where you can operate the predator choke from driver seat location?

I want to devise someway to operate the choke up front without running back to turn off the choke each time the engine has warm up. This may be useful when you are already in the driver seat. In another word, I may be lazy and want to have every control within reaching distance.

Thanks

2019-Predator Engine Remote Choke part 1

Wouldn't it be nice to operate the predator choke at other location?

Since I have relocated the electrical start to the dash, turning the choke lever on and off is a pain. I have searched and have not found a solution for predator engine with manual choke.

The next few posts will be about remote choke for predator engine or a possible option for engine with manual choke.
