One look at my current hook up, I have wires, levers all over places. two more wires for the same choke would send me to the nut house. Beside, I am still in the looking stage. There are distraction stage and then build stage. I have time.

I have made two different choke versions with varies heights for clearance. On the stock carburetor, it works perfectly.

Time to check on the aftermarket carburetor from Ebay.

New choke lever doesn't fit on the aftermarket carb.

The factory carb has screw in butterfly on the choke lever and the hole is larger.

Aftermarket carb has the butterfly pressed in and the hole is slightly smaller.

Spacing between choke lever are different also...


Back to drawing board.

Choke lever version #3

I have decided to cut 1/2 metal rod instead of using two 1/4 nuts like the previous two versions.

One minor change on this on. The main hole start out to be 5.5 mm drill bit, and then #6 drill bit is drill almost through except last 3/16" or 1/8 of an inch. This will keep the post from shifting on the carb.

It is not quite centered on the 1/2 rod.

Nice build, we are very similar.

I also was just considering a choke relocation or just running some kind of cable to the dash to control it. I was thinking just taking some filler rod and making a easy linkage. I dont want to put that much effort into it.

Item received.

There are 5/8 inch bushings which goes in the bearing to accommodate the 5/8" spindle. That may pose a problem because it may not stay in place. It moves freely and may not remain on the bearing.

I cut a 5/8" DOM pipe to fit in between the two bushings.

This is indeed a problem.. Seems silly to have bearings that can float around

I thought some flanged sleeved bearings would do the trick

Choke lever version #3 completion.

Here are the working version. There are some issues that I would like to finalize.

In the next version, hopefully the last version, I want to install limiter on the remote choke lever control so you don't yank the choke lever rod out past acceptable point on the carb.

In order to connect choke cable to the carburetor, I need to make a guide to keep the cable straight from twisting when you pull the choke up front of the go-kart.

The guide is the orange 1/4 rod bend at the end and a piece of cable sleeve is welded to it. At the other end of the rod, I ran 1/4 x 20 die to about 2 inches.

This guide is adjustable and keeps the cable in its path. I can turn the guide down to keep clear from the gas throttle.

The spring on the choke lever hooks on the carburetor is an extra fail safe measure just incase the choke cable fails.

Is the spring necessary? I am not quite sure but it does sound good when you factor in the push and pull capacities for the choke cable is 10 lbs. and 25 lbs. respectively.

Rigged up something simple to keep the choke pull from over travel which could damage the choke lever on the carburetor.

This is an interesting problem to tackle for predator engine. Same idea would work for the 212cc as well. I am sure go kart members would improve on what I have come up.

It would be nice to present a how-to on YouTube. I am illiterate when it comes to thing like that.

Finally, I am going to improve on it sometimes in the future. Maybe a metal plate which incorporate choke, and throttle cable hook-up.
