Nice work Slidewayz!!! I responded to your post about my Simplex. Do you still have some Nassau panels? How do they mount on the steering column? Thanks for any info.

Thank you guys for looking in.
I appreciate the feedback and interest. This has been fun building and a bit of a challenge.
I pre assembled the kart and took it for a tiny test spin, just to make sure everything worked ok. I then took some of it apart, so my grandson and I had a project to do during his visit, and he could learn a bit about the kart. And so it would help him during his first drive of it.
This is what he saw initially.

And him helping with the assembly.

We finished assembling the kart, and I added one of my Nassau Panels and put some graphics and stripes on it.

And then finally took him out for the first time in it. He did very well, was pretty cautious, and listened well. Will be taking him out a few more times. The kart ran great and turns and brakes well.

And with me at the wheel.....this should show, starting, maneuvering, braking and kill switch.

You had my vote a long time ago!
Oops did I just post that on someone elses build thread! :roflol:
....yup and just bumped my thread to the top again:2guns:
:lolgoku:

Thank you very much Nick and DW....thanks everyone!!

Here is another quick vid of the grandson...getting a weee bit braver....he was cracking me up, by how he would surprise himself when the rear tires would kick out. By evenings end, he was already asking if he had the "talent to be a racer"......When I got my first kart when I was 13, my dad's buddys (who were mostly racers) told him....first time he slides it sideways, its all over.....LOLOL (somewhere is a blurry pic of me doing just that, only moments after taking it out the first time, all those years ago)

I guess I am bump this again! lol Actually I do really like DW's kart, and the Alumiflyer and DD's Rotary kart. It is gonna be a tough decision. Hey your grand son is looking good on that thing. I remember last month the first time my 8 yr old son drove his kart and got it sideways in the dirt! He just drove up to us laughing his butt off.:wai: I think you win for Grandpa of the year!

Hey slide, have you thought about making a kart kit or whole kart just like the one you have built and selling them? I think you could have a little cottage industry on your hands! :cheers2:

DD & Chancer.....careful what you wish for.....

ForceFed86, This kart weighed in at 77 pounds, and my Rupp weighed 86 pounds both with no engine installed. And as I mentioned before, I want to make another out of even thinner aluminum to see if that will work, and to see what that would weigh.

Thanks for looking in.

That is really cool job!

What are your pedals made of? Is it steel or aluminum and how thick?

Thanks vlad!

The pedals are made from 1/4" thick aluminum. They seem to work great. I am not real happy with the side view of them, they look a bit bulky considering the design and style of the kart....I will probably do a bit of redesigning. An easy fix would be to just buy some aftermarket ones, but then I would loose the adjustability I built into them.

Thanks for looking in...
