    GoKart Senior Project Advice

Hey Kitzimoose, I don't think you understand the part about welding with gas instead of flux core. They are talking about mig welding with argon gas. It is an inert gas. Non explosive. It just creats a better environment for the weld. You can weld with flux core (no gas) or with argon gas...

Denny, that's a 285 Dingo. Original engine was a 5 hp. Those rear wheels are meant for a 388. That kart originally came with 18 x 9.5 -8 rear wheels.

Finally finished the Manco Yellow Jacket

Denny is correct. The frame doesn't move. The rear axle pivots. I tried several different exhausts for this kart. Even the make your own sections. Nothing else would work. I'm just going to have to keep from flipping it over. Here's a picture of the carb. Plenty of clearance from any debris...

Finally finished the Manco Yellow Jacket

It's been a few months, but I have finally finished the Yellow Jacket. I just thought I'd post a few photos of the finished Kart. I won't be able to ty it out for a little while. Between a surgery and the Michigan weather, it will be a bit. It's nice having a heated garage to work in. I'm glad I...

    removal of brake rotor

I've used a wire wheel on a die grinder to remove the rust and paint off of my axle before. I have a mikita electric die grinder. Easier than sanding, in my opinion. Just be sure to wear safety glasses.

    Manco Yellow Jacket

Yes, I do. Actually, I have a brand new old stock one also. I picked it up off of ebay a few years ago to use on my first project. I ended up going through the disc brake dance. First the mechanical ones, then the hydraulic. Never really gave the band brake a chance.

    Manco Yellow Jacket

Interesting. I haven't used drums a lot. I switched to the machanical disc brake set-up on most of my karts, before actually using them. Then I switched to the hydraulics. I wan't happy with the manual disc. Perhaps I'll give it a try. That was my intention, originally. Thank you panchothedog.

    Manco Yellow Jacket

I imagine you could fabricate something similar. Basically, two universals for a 1" shaft. I actually cut down an axle I had to make new ones on this kart. This is actually the way that it came from the factory. I can't wait to get it completed. Still a few months away. I keep looking at it and...

    Manco Yellow Jacket

Finally got the 34mm flat slide. It may look a little odd, but it will work. Guess this is what happens when you up size the motor. It will look ok with the header sticking out the other side. Almost have the torque converter tube back on.
