Picked up a Yellow Jacket today

Thank you, BaconBitRacing. That's awfully kind of you. By the way, I found the manufacturer tag. It was made by Manco. Model number 5506-01, in case anyone wants to know. This thing is really in incredible shape. I'm very possible going to leave it in its Patina'd state. Most of the paint is...

Picked up a Yellow Jacket today

I've been without a project for a while now. I was starting to get twitchy. Then I spoted this for sale! I couldn't pass this thing up. A go kart with a suspension! Wow. This thing is Cool! I'm pretty happy with it. Not too much damage. Pretty much unmolested. Time to build another 390. Oh Boy...

    Custom Go Kart Build

Welcome. A thought reguarding the engine you have. I personnally wouldn't go with a GX270. Don't get me wrong, I love Hondas. That's all I build. Problem is the lack of aftermarket performance parts for that choice. I would look for a GX390. Aftermarket hi performance parts are very common for...

Problem with after market driven pulley on trail master

Get a tach. One wire to wrap around your plug wire. Thats it. Ready to use. Has an internal battery. The Flywheel does come preset, but you can adjust that.

    First go kart build, questions

I put a tach on every build. I've always gone with the battery powered one. Only one wire to run to your plug wire. Only thing is it's only good as long as the battery lasts. No changing it. Supposed to last about 10 years. Have't had one die yet.

    Comet 30 series alignment

Craig, in a lot of cases I believe the Driver is up against the shoulder on the crank next to the engine. Usually a short spacer is needed to align the driver to the driven. You shouldn't be using a stack of washers. Like everyone says, use machine bushings. Every hardware store should have...

Valve lash good but motor still binds?

I say the cam is off.

    Comet 30 series alignment

I may be missing somthing here but why would you put a stack of washers under the crank bolt? Go to the hardware store and buy the correct length bolt? Make sure you get the correct pitch (fine thread).

Predator 224 - Chain keeps popping off

Dail indicator would be great but I don't think you need that. If you can see it wooble, I think you found your problem. I've had bent axles, but that never caused a chain issue. I think a bent axle will cause the wheel to wooble, but I don't think the middle portion of the axle would be bent...

Predator 224 - Chain keeps popping off

Good afternoon. They look pretty good, from what I see. I am assuming your chain is tight. Torque converter not being aligned shouldn't be affecting the chain. Maybe a sprocket is loose? I would suggest you remove the chain and lay it on the ground. Make sure it's still straight. If it got...

    Dingo update-Hydraulic Brakes

Thanks, Denny. I bought that kart off of Facebook a couple years ago. Went to Detroit to get it. Talk about a rough neighborhood. Stripped it all down, repaired some bad welds and added some steel. She's my garage queen. I keep her out of the dirt. Better than new now. Here is an example of the...

Predator 224 - Chain keeps popping off

Your sprockets don't sound aligned. Main reason for a chain poping off. Try to put a straight edge one of the sprockets to align them. Reason it only happens when you're driving it is because of the tension being applied to it then.

    Dingo update-Hydraulic Brakes

I go to a local shop here in Michigan. I use AN3 fittings. It takes about 5 minutes to make the hose. Stainless braided in choice of color. I get the 90 degree elbow fitting for the calipers. https://www.plymouthrubber.net/ You can see it pretty good in this photo if you zoom.

    Disc brake issues

SDcarting, you mentioned having a 1/16" gap. Thats's pretty close. I lightly seated mine, then evenly backed off a smitchin. That puts them pretty close. That gap is just a waste of pedal travel. On mine I have holes in the mounting bracket I made so I can adjust them in place. If you can't do...
