Diy go kart or buggy with a engine driven welder motor

All the generator motors I've seen had a tapered shaft. Take that thing apart and find out. My personnal suggestion is to find a honda 13 HP powerwasher that doesn't work. You can find them for about $125-$150 if you look hard. My last one was $125. Pump was shot. Motor runs great. Even one that...

    Help with brakes

I know that the instructions that come with the MCP brakes call for Dot 4, which is full synthetic.

    Torque Converter Question

Yes, I'm going forward with it as a pull start. My shoulders aren't what they used to be, but these things start pretty easily. I'm ok unless the thing won't start and I wear myself out. Everything is going to fit better this way. 🙂 It just so happens that I bought this plate by accident a long...

    Torque Converter Question

I guess this ones going to be a pull start. I took the starter off the engine. That helped. I'm really close to 7 1/4" now.

    Torque Converter Question

Wow. That's very interesting. I got the shaft and center bolt on the driver lined up pretty good. Gives me a pretty accurate measurement that way. At least 7 1/8". Wish I could hold the tape and take a picture at the same time. I think I might give it a try. Thank you very much for that bit of...

    Torque Converter Question

I'd love to get a shorter belt. On the comet chart, taken from a belt, 7 1/2" center to center is the shortest they have.

    Torque Converter Question

I hear you. I was just hoping one of the experts would say, 3/8" isn't too bad.( I'm going with 3/8" short not 1/2") I'm going to have to back up a few steps and get this right. Looks like moving the driven tube back is my only hope. I can't move the engine up any due to the restrictions. Mainly...

    Torque Converter Question

Ok. So, I've got the 390 squished into the back of this Yellow Jacket. Fits pretty good. Tight, but good. Question is the drive belt. 40 series. The best I can get on the belt distance is about 7 1/8". That's being generous. Comet say's 7 1/2". What's going to happen? Never fully get up to...

    Manco Yellow Jacket

Thanks, panchothedog. I recall seeing them before, now that you mention them. Perhaps I'll run up to Studzracing tomorrow. They're only about 20 minutes from work. I think they have them. Thanks again. I'll give it a try. It may raise my motor too much. It's pretty tight. The exhaust might not...

    Manco Yellow Jacket

Thanks, Denny! Yeah, second time around. Different cancer. It's not gonna win.

    Manco Yellow Jacket

Yeah, I've still got some things to correct. I'm going to need to move the engine over to the right about an inch for the electric starter to clear the seat back rail. That means putting on a new motor mount plate. Oh well. Nothing worth doing is ever easy. Look at the picture. The starter...

    Manco Yellow Jacket

Thanks, panchothedog. It's amazing what throwing a ton of money at somthing will do. I've got the engine done. Only problem is Mikuni 34mm Flatslide carburetor's are out of stock everywhere right now.

    MCP Brake Adjustment

I can see by your photo that you have too much gap on the pads. Yes, there are 2 allen head bolts that will close that gap. It can be a real pain in the butt to get them bled right. I've posted numerous times on these brakes. Do a search. I ended up making my own beeder using low air pressure to...

    Manco Yellow Jacket

I've got the kart finished. Thought I'd post a few pics. I'm pretty happy with the outcome. New spindle brackets for the front wheels and a new steering shaft, among other things. Someone hit somthing with it at some point in it's past life. The engine on the back is a mock-up Gx390. I managed...

    Engine for Manco Yellow Jacket

So I pulled the 212 off the Yekkow Jacket today to see how a gx390 would fit. I don't think a 390 is in the future for this kart. This moves the center of gravity a bit high. I think it would be "tippy". I'm not into altering the frame on this kart. It's too clean. Very interesting the way they...

Picked up a Yellow Jacket today

That's good to hear about the U-joints. I am going to have to inspect them pretty good. If you would have seen the short video of this thing, you would have had a hard time believing it survived this long. They had it on 2 wheels a couple of times.
