Finally finished the Manco Yellow Jacket

It's been a few months, but I have finally finished the Yellow Jacket. I just thought I'd post a few photos of the finished Kart. I won't be able to ty it out for a little while. Between a surgery and the Michigan weather, it will be a bit. It's nice having a heated garage to work in. I'm glad I was able to fit everything in there. It was tight. It has a built Honda GX390. This thing should scream when I get it on the dirt roads. Oh yeah, I still have a seat belt to install.

Guys, guys, maybe this is form over function? Many such custom builds out there, just made to look good but not work. I couldn't resist.
The carb and pipe just jutting out the back worries me. I would have bought one that goes straight up or nearly so in "Stinger" style.

Guess the thunderous girth of the 390 pushes the intake and exhaust beyond the confines of the frame? No getting around that I suppose, so you'll have to be more careful with it. I predict the rear tire rooster tails are going to absolutely coat the carb with debris.

Denny is correct. The frame doesn't move. The rear axle pivots. I tried several different exhausts for this kart. Even the make your own sections. Nothing else would work. I'm just going to have to keep from flipping it over. Here's a picture of the carb. Plenty of clearance from any debris flying from the tire. It sits off to the side of the rear wheel.

Having a similar setup, I found the debris from the rear tire will make a mess, but not nearly as bad as the mess the front tire makes. The "debris field" kicked up by the front tire has fanned out enough to put the air cleaner dead center. Dust will be a bigger problem than anything. In the desert we have this wonderful "moon dust" that is about as fine as talcum powder, Our air filter had a 1/2 inch deep layer of moon dust at the end of day one. Just have clean filers available. What else ya gonna do? yer kinda stuck with that layout.

Good looking rig. Came out very nice. That's a good filter on there. Keep it loaded with air cleaner oil and wash after particularly dusty runs and you should be OK.
