Scarriest **** that has ever happend to you on a go kart

I know this is an old thread, but this is an old story too. Back some time when i was 12, i had just finished my first cart. the roll cage consisted of a 1" inner diameter pipe bent in a u in my Dads vice, needless to say it was insufficient. the power plant was a 12hp *Tecumseh i believe* and...

I have a snowmobile engine project need some help!

it would be entirely possible that i could sell you a secondary and the shaft. for shipping i would have to take the secondary off the shaft of course. but yeah, ill see if i have any "donors" out back tomorrow, provided its not storming that is.

    Kart build- brakes

looks like a riot. totally with you on the spokes not seeing it as an issue. with the angle in your front wheels you should be fine as far as sideways pressure goes, you *might* have issues in the back a ways down the road, but it looks like its made for the street more than off road, so i...

    5HP Honda lacks power

with that live axle it could be a bearing too, i would check to make sure the drive train moves freely especially if the motor sounds like its running hard. barring that, do as fabroman said and see if anything is awry.

getting fuel to my carby ?

thats an interesting idea, those little rc cars use that method, and it works there, but there is considerably more back pressure in that system. not sure how that would work with a full sized setup. also the heat would be a bit of a problem to an extent. your frame wont allow you to put the...

were to find a go kart brake kit

re-purposed bicycle breaks will work for small karts with small engines, but the best is to get a disk of some kind and the caliper off an old car. (smaller the better go for a ford fiesta they work nice especially if you can find one with disks which is admittedly very hard) recycling is...

polaris 340 for my yerf. HOW?!?!?!?

ok, if you plan on going with pillow blocks remember that it is belt driven and that the belt WILL eventually break... point there is make it easy to change the belt. make that mistake and it could be a long walk home. second gem. the c to c wont matter much, just find a belt and assemble...

New minibike build, and a few others..

just checked in on this, looks very nice. dont know if you noticed, but that nut on the back there in the vid looks an awful lot like its turning while your revving it up. might wanna nip that in the butt, before yours is spread on the road!

    Bigfoot

we always cut and weld the pipe to ensure rigidity, and besides that i like the jagged corners...and that its way cheaper than the cheater bender. ;P but thats all my oppinion, in truth if i could afford it i would totally get a pipe bender, but alas i cant. i did make a really nice hydraulic...

    gas tank?

so then, your building a race cart? or just a fun cart? because if its a for fun only, you might be better off going to the local junk yard and finding an old lawn tractor or snowmobile. (or jetski, if you dont have snow there)

Zero experience looking for an easy build

good luck, and just remember when in doubt, overbuild. if you think it might break, your probably right. make it strong, and it will last you a looooong time.
