    Honda 2hp Horz Shaft Engine

Hello all Found a Honda 2Hp Horz Shaft Engine locally on CL. Says good shape, like new, includes pully for $50. Just wondering if that is a good deal. Thought it might be a good one for a scooter. Going to look at it tomorrow.

    HF Blue 6.5 - Muffler

Hello all. My sons go kart has a HF Blue 6.5 engine. He is really freaked out by loud noise (probably due to his ear problems as a baby). Does anyone have any recommendations on making this thing as quite as possible. Right now it just has the stock muffler.

Its Alive....and wrecked on the test drive. LOL

The Kart started out as a Carter Bros 1435 (yr 1995 i believe). It looked like this when I got it. It needed some work and one thing led to another. I never do anything small. The drive belt is how the carters were set up back then and thats how I got it. Not common, but well see how...

Its Alive....and wrecked on the test drive. LOL

Well I finally got my sons go kart finished enough for a test drive today. Brake rod and Gas rod made to match this weekend. Still have a little finish welding to do and add some support for some type of painted nose (with flames for my son). First, according to the calculations, the gear...

    Welding is almost done.

No, just planning some good rattle can at this point. Just don't have the cash for much more than that. A $250 go kart for my 5 year old son turned into a complete overhaul but at least I didn't waste the $250. New engine, New Clutch, New Tires, generally good frame to start with. I just...

    Welding is almost done.

Got some more done this weekend Finally decided to go with disk brake. Got the caliper mounted and added two final braces to the front. Things are pretty even with the sprocket on one side and brake disk on the other. The brake will actuated by a lever from one side of the kart to the other...

    Welding is almost done.

Yes, its an old door. A heavy *** solid wood laminant door. Im a big guy and it took all I had to get it up on the saw horses. I leveled it up with some shims and it made a good level surface to get everything set up.

    Welding is almost done.

Well I got the rear axle housing welded in this weekend along with replacing some other metal on the front of the frame. It had been broken and welded poorly long ago. Not anymore, straight, square and solid. Still have a little more welding and cleanup to do. Also have to make the motor...

New axle mount done - What about dual band brakes?

Today. I got my new axle housing done. I got some nice "C" channel steel at the local scrap metal dealer. It could not have been a better match for the bearing mounting flanges. The axle mount turned out better than I expected. I cut the old axle out of the kart frame and got the new...

    8" Pedal Extensions

post a pick of what you have set up now and I may be able to help. I am doing the same thing for my son (5yr old). As I figure out what I am going to make for his, I might be able to help out. Picking up the steel tubing today to relocate the rear axle i built. should be a fun weekend on of...

Whats better? Rod or Cable for brakes and Gas

Thanks everyone. The current setup on the kart I am rebuilding was rod for the brakes. I was a little concerned with the rod because I am planning on moving the pedals inboard from the front corner of the kart for my 5yr old son. When I move it in, it will not be a straight shot back to the...

Whats better? Rod or Cable for brakes and Gas

Hello all I just wanted to get some opinions and maybe see some of your setups. The kart I got had rod linkage for the band brake and a rod/cable combo for the fuel. The fuel rod went about 3/4 back where it connected to a cable that worked the fuel lever on the motor. I would like to go...

    Go Kart Differential

If you were going to use the differential axle (Part # 1369) from Northern Tool, does the sprocket bolt directly to the differential or just like any other live axle shaft with a hub. If it bolts to the differential, I guess that means the motor is turning the differential housing....?

    $250 turns into $600........oh well

Don't get me wrong, I didn't plan on spending more money, but it was either spend it or scrap it. After this adventure, I will be building the next one from the ground up frame and all. Anyway here are some pics from today. Got the axle assembly done and placed under the kart so I can get a...

    $250 turns into $600........oh well

Well, last week I picked up and older Carter Bros kart (1435) for $250. New Tires, New Engine (HF Blue 6.5), New Pulley clutch and rebuilt jackshaft housing. This kart is a little unique in that it has a v-belt driving the jackshaft instead of a chain. Well it needed a few fine touches so I...

Harbor Freight 96549 sound and setup

Hello all New here. Just picked up a go kart off CL. Has a newly installed engine from HF (the 96549). Seems from the forum that this is a great engine for the price. Starts nicely, and seems to run good, but very rattley (if thats a word). I cant tell if its the clutch or just general...

    New guy - few questions

Here are some pics of my $250 CL Go Kart Not the greatest quality from my phone, but here they are. I think I got a pretty good deal. Any help in identifying the brand of the frame would be great. Still need to go seat shopping at Northern or TSC. [/IMG]

    New guy - few questions

Thanks I thought it was the jackshaft, but most of them I have seen in my search have a sprocket on both ends instead of a belt pully. The pulley is about 6 inches in diameter. I think its going to be fine for my son and not to fast at all. As he gets bigger we can change the pulley to a...
