New axle mount done - What about dual band brakes?

Today. I got my new axle housing done. I got some nice "C" channel steel at the local scrap metal dealer. It could not have been a better match for the bearing mounting flanges. The axle mount turned out better than I expected. I cut the old axle out of the kart frame and got the new housing mocked up. Hope to get the frame striped and the new one tacked in tomorrow. Looking at the mock up (see pics) got me thinking about the possiblity of dual dual band brakes (one on each side). Would this give any advantage or is it just overkill. I know I have to link them together for one pedal. The engine is just going to be the HF 6.5 Blue. The band to chain setup is going to give about 9:1 ratio for the axle. Not high speed for my 5 year old. Comments welcome.

I would reccomend disc brakes.

No reason why a double band brake wouldn't work, but it would be better to have a disc brake.

BTW, your rear tyres are on the wrong way. The tread should be scooping dirt out from the center of the tyre (unless you are running on sand)
