    old style Margay rims.

No I didnt spend 320 on ebay either. I have been searching around a little. I managed to find one set that were in near perfect condition on a kart at a small engine shop. The owner was having the kart gone through for his kids christmas last year. I offered to buy him a new set of trophy wheels...

    old style Margay rims.

Anybody got a set of Margay rims for sale? The old style six spoke wheels that have margay written on them. I have an original set of Dart Turbine rims, but I am trying to build an A-Bone to look like one I had as a kid. Thanks.

Finds in the SW PA area

And this just looks insane. Dual KT100's. [url]http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/rvs/2753934204.html[/url Those Unlimited All Star karts are crazy. There is a group that races around here, and they are blindingly fast. Ive seen a few 450 fourstroke dirtbike engines that fly, but the fastest...

cordless drill powered tracked vehicle idea

Might not be relevant, but when my son got his first power wheel a few years back it wouldn't run across wet grass without spinning tires and getting stuck. I put a handful of sheetmetal srews in the rear tires (plastic wheels) with the heads to the outside. Problem solved. I thought it may tear...

    Recoil starter

Not sure if it matters here, but the cups and starters will not interchange between the blue jiang dong, and yellow bsp engines. They will bolt up, but the engagement teeth are different.

    a few engine questions.

    1) The torque convertor in an automatic trans works simmilar to two fans. One is connected to the crankshaft, the other to the transmission. In easy terms, the crankshaft fan spins which blows the transmission fan until it spins. Sort of like blowing a pinwheel. 2)See above. If you would like...

    Clone Compression Issue

I dont really think there is an issue with compression. The valves, rings, etc appearto be good from what he is saying. When he backs off the valves it runs sporadically, which in my mind makes me start thinking ignition timing, but it would be entirely possible to miss a tooth on the cam/crank...

    Clone Compression Issue

Also, make sure you test compression rolling the engine over backwards- it defeats the compression release mechanism that is in place for easier starting... +1 , and I would check the flywheel to be sure it hasn't slipped or sheared a key or something.

    flux wire welders?

I use this same setup and it works fine. There is more cleanup, but it isnt as bad as it sounds. I use a 180 grit sanding disc on the grinder to clean off the spatter and the welds look fine.

    help me identify this cart

Just going off the fact that it's an 1 1/8" straight rail, and the parts that are on it, it appears to be an 80's era kart. Look around the spindle brackets and rear bearing hangers for any names or numbers.

    Carb Cleanout

The carb is pretty simple to clean. If fuel with ethanol sits in the carb for a while without being run it will leave a residue that normally clogs up the emulsion tube. If you take the carb off, remove the bolt that holds the bowl on, then unscrew the jet from the center post that hangs down...

    engine question

If its a flat head, that tube is just an oil return line, sort of like a pcv valve. The carb probably needs a new diaphram. Very easy and inexspensive to do. Also pull the jet out and make sure the two holes behind it aren't clogged.

    Jackshaft or torque converter?

Thats kinda what I was thinking. I am probablly gonna use a 13 tooth noram ge since it has a needle bearing hub. The larger bearing surface closer to the block should eliminate any binding, and the jackshaft would leave plenty of adjustment for gear ratios. I just really want a reason to put a...

    Jackshaft or torque converter?

Well, the frame is an old rupp dart kart modified to hold the body. It is around 40 to 50 years old. We run a hard compound race slick, and make 180 degree turns on asphalt, so I would imagine the frame is flexing a fair amount. The clutch itself does not slide all tthe way over the crank...

    Exploding Flywheel?

I think a lot of this exploding flywheel buisness come from the racing world. Taking a 99 dollar chinese clone to the racetrack stock is great, but they are very easy to modify for extra power. When you get a small engine intended for 3600 rpms and turn it 6000 or more for 20 laps or so its...

    Jackshaft or torque converter?

Hello. I need some advice on a torque converter. My kart is set up with a 10 tooth arena clutch with a 70 sprocket. It is used in parades so its wide open for 30 yards or so then hit the brakes, turn and repeat. The 7.0 gear is perfect for what we do, but it is hard on equipment. I generally get...
