If y'all want to get into semantics, nothing is true in all cases. What is pertinent here, is "What is a reasonable and normal expectations?"

I have seen a spark plug "explode". It is so incredibly rare, though, that you could safely and reasonably say, "Spark plugs never explode."

Make sense?

that stuff sounds cool.
I am currently looking for an aluminium lawnmower flywheel designed to have an engine brake, with the same dimensions/timing as the gx200.
(I don't know why I suddenly care so much- I need to stop spending!!!)

I think a lot of this exploding flywheel buisness come from the racing world. Taking a 99 dollar chinese clone to the racetrack stock is great, but they are very easy to modify for extra power. When you get a small engine intended for 3600 rpms and turn it 6000 or more for 20 laps or so its asking for trouble. So far it seems to be very rare for a basiclly stock clone ungoverned to shatter a flywheel. As has been pointed out the rod is gonna break first in most cases. Its when you start changing rods, cams, compression etc that you should worry. My general rule for the clone is to use the billet flywheel when the engine gets a billet rod.
