2 posts back, took it apart further and the rod was broken in multiple spots where it goes around the crank and there's a good bit of transfer to the crank, so now it looks more like oil starvation to me.

Can get a 16 horse Kohler for free from a buddy. All it needs is an airbox. That's probably going to be what goes on it.

Took the governer out a week ago. Put it all back together and rode for 40 min. I believe it was the counterweight. Seized to the crank and when that broke it demolished the rod. And sent it through the block.

And NOT so nice.

Also welded the differential and filled the trans with gear oil. The trans mounts are 1/4in plates welded together since I didn't have access to the ironworker in my welding program's shop. Best bet is to weld or have them welded, It's very unlikely that you'll find any online. And could you define "broken"? Cracked, snapped or bent? Pics are good too.

Got a junk ariens mower this summer for free from a dumpster and built a atlt out of it. Trans swap to a 5 speed and 4" hubs from a cub cadet. With the pulley swap and no governer I got to ~32mph.
