A good example of why Yerf Dog went belly-up!!!

The axle on my kart (not yerf dog) snapped the same way. It had a casting flaw through the entire axle. I bought my new one from manufacturing supply. Stock cast axles kinda suck.

    Loss of Power?

Is that tiny little filter for your air filter, or is that a breather vent filter?

    More Traction for Yard Karting?

Get rid of the one tire fire and go to a live axle setup. Other than that, you are not gonna get a really aggressive tire for a small wheel.

    yerf dog flips too easy

I can tell you for a fact that widening the rear axle will make it steer worse. The narrower the rear, the easier it will steer. I went from a 48" rear axle to a 54" rear axle and my steering went to crap. I am now working on fabricating a yerf dog style front end, which will widen the front...

Ditto. Everything I buy off the shelf has to be cut, welded, and modified to work. I mean EVERYTHING!

too much power for torque converter

Only thing I can think of is is contacting a local machine shop and give them the specs for a sleeve and see if they can make one for a series 40 setup. I haven't seen a sleeve for sale on the web, but it sounds like you have too much invested in your 212 to buy another engine. Unless you want...

    Engine swap?

My kart is a full suspension kart with upgraded coil-over shocks/struts. It handles the weight and horse power I throw at it. I abuse the crap out of it, with jumps through and over creeks, around trees, and long straightaways with whoops and small ruts. The only problem I have with my predator...

    Engine swap?

I use a series 40 clutch and driven on my setup. 16 hp engine, with 10 tooth driver and a 60 tooth driven sprocket. Works great with my kart on my 5 acres with a creek running through it. I have no problem climbing hills, or getting to top speed (around 40 mph). A centrifugal clutch isn't gonna...

    420 predator governor linkage question

Here is a pic of my rear suspension angle. Is this about what you did jamyers? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Grimace68/A7EE8B86-D7AB-4C41-A5F9-44A81ED70702-187-000000084CF6166E.jpg

    420 predator governor linkage question

I looked at your blog, but didn't see the part number for your carb. You have a 420 predator? If you don't mind, could you post a link or where I can buy one? I went to the tillotson website, but don't know what carb to buy. Thanks.

    420 predator governor linkage question

They are gas/hydraulic coil overs. The springs are pretty stiff. I am 6'3" and 285 lbs it takes a lot to compress the springs. I can drop the tires to 14 psi or so and see if that helps.

    420 predator governor linkage question

Not sure how to adjust my suspension, the coil overs have no adjustment, and my frame/swing arm mounts are fixed with no adjustments. I will read the B&S website for the adjustments, thanks you guys.

    420 predator governor linkage question

Oh it tries to flood, but I get off the gas until it settles down. Is there a carb that would be better than the stock unit or should I try to tighten the slack out of the big governor spring. It has a lot of play in it before the throttle catches it to pull toward wot. Could be that the spring...
